Site design encourages friend requests by mistake

1. You want to send someone a message.  Open their profile.

2. Page loads a bit slowly.  Move mouse to "Send message" at top right.

3. Page suddenly shifts down a bit.  Click before you realize that just happened.

4. You've clicked on "Send friend request" instead, which appeared a millisecond ago under the mouse pointer, pushing down the thing you actually wanted by one line.  (Problem #1)

5. Request is sent automatically, with no confirmation step (Problem #2) or opportunity to add a message as before.

 

Sending messages should never be allowed to happen accidentally.

 

No harm done in this case (messaging a friend, so what the heck), but poor design IMHO.
