+derDay Posted December 21, 2024 Posted December 21, 2024 hey a new geocacher had took my TB. now this person is relatively inactive, but he also does not log my TB anymore. since he grabbed my TB in july, he cached another time in november. I wrote to him via message center and asked if he knows that he still has my TB, but he did not answer (that was in october). now I wanted to write him a mail, but this is not possible, because I get the following error message: The user selected has invalidated their account. You cannot send email to this user. So how can I reach him and ask, if he's aware of the problem? is it possible via geocaching hq? Quote
+Mausebiber Posted December 21, 2024 Posted December 21, 2024 Not sure if Groundspeak can help you since TBs are a side game. Try to find out, if this user is geocaching with someone else, and then write a message to this person and ask for help. Quote

I was going to delve in to it but your content is private and I can't even see your trackables. Good luck getting your TB moving again. Edited December 21, 2024 by Max and 99 1 Quote

DONT mark it as 'Missing' Invalidated account. Back in the day, before Apps, GS sent an email to confirm -Validate- that you were a real person. You had to reply on the link. Now we have Apps, the email is no longer sent. Not sure how cachers prove they are real now? Maybe paying the premium membership is enough? TBs and GCs a 'side game' I sure dont want to pay money to GS for them, if there is no way to contact cachers who may be involved in moving the items... eta The fact they say "found a TB" in their log suggests they know about TBs... It may just be the caches they have found since haven't been large enough for a TB? Edited December 22, 2024 by Bear and Ragged Quote

Not requiring a valid email of all cachers is one of Groundspeak's worst decisions. 4 Quote

I thought you said you know which cacher has, or had, your TB so it isn't missing. In may be a hostage but it isn't missing to the best of your knowledge. As a side note, I suspect the vast majority of TB quickly disappear and stay MIA shortly after being released. 1 Quote

While it's in the hands of it will show up in their inventory of TBs, and act as a reminder to do something with it! Annoying as it is, it's something we - as TB owners - have to put up with. 2 Quote
