+MysteryGuy1 Posted December 14, 2024 Posted December 14, 2024 For the last few weeks, the default setting on the website map is zoomed way out. If I search for a specific city, the result shows my entire state, and I have to click zoom 4 times for it to zero in on the city. Is this a bug with the site? It's very annoying. Quote
+ecanderson Posted December 17, 2024 Posted December 17, 2024 The map zoom level set by the geocaching site is determined by the resulting density of caches in the area being searched. It's not a fixed value, and will vary based upon search results. What you are describing is what happens when, filtered or otherwise, the number of caches that result from the search are fewer. Go up to the url in your browser, scroll right a bit in it, and find the "zoom=" setting for that view. What is it? Quote
+MysteryGuy1 Posted December 22, 2024 Author Posted December 22, 2024 It defaults to zoom=10. I've been using the site for almost a decade, and the number of active caches in my area has definitely gone down each year, but I've never experienced this issue until a few weeks ago. I also notice if I'm on a specific cache page and I click the "view larger map" option, it takes me to a zoom=18 setting. Quote
