+-=(GEO)=-
I had so many weird problems with 4.06 that I decided to downgrade to 4.02 (btw, if you still have a copy of 3.12, email me). Before uploading 4.02 I did a "Reset All". The upload of 4.02 completed successfully. Trouble is that when I power the GPS back on, I never get the chance to finish the initialization and after just 3 seconds, the main "Magellan Screen" comes back. I tried uploading the firmware again to no avail. Is there a way out of this w/o sending the GPS to the manufacturer? Any help would be appreciated. Quote Link to comment
+embra
There is information about resolving firmware restoration problems in section 30 of the FAQs at the Yahoo Meridian Group file section. I beliieve it is necessary to join to get access to the files. Max Often wrong but seldom in doubt Quote Link to comment
+-=(GEO)=-
Turns out that the only way to get out of this mess was to upload 4.06 again... For some reason, I'm unable to go back to 4.02 w/o getting 'stuck' in a loop when the GPS starts back up. I'd like to drop back to 3.12 if someone still has it. Quote Link to comment
3fros
I had the EXACT same problem a while ago. I mailed The GPSr in and they said they fixed it by uploaded the new 4.06. Works great now. Like I said in the other post you made, I have a copy of 3.12. I saved all of the old copies. Quote Link to comment

The solution was to use the MAGUP.EXE that comes with 4.06 to load the .HEX file for 3.12 (in expert mode). Worked like a charm. The only explanation I can fathom is that 4.06 writes to memory that doesn't get reset by the older MAGUP firmware loaders. It's probably safe to always use the newest firmware loader regardless of which firmware version you're actually using. ... alex Quote Link to comment
+-=(GEO)=-
alexm ... That's a good thing to know. I didn't think of trying that out before I attempted to upload 3.12 over 4.06. It resulted in killing the GPS entirely w/o any recourse other than sending the unit to Magellan for reprogramming... Live and learn Quote Link to comment
Clown Knife
You are not alone! I got stuck in the same exact sequence. I had other problems as well so I sent my unit in for repair. Thales fixed my unit, installed the 4.06 firmware and today my MeriPlat placed me within one foot of the cache I was hunting. My unit is working better than ever now. FWIW, I manage to get the 4.02 firmware loaded (before shipping the unit in for service) by using the EXPERT MODE. You might want to try that in the future. Happy Hunting! Quote Link to comment
