Sub-meter Post Processing

Recommended Posts

I read a article where a company (www.uspositioning.com) had developed post processing software using Garmin GPS receiver to obtain sub-meter accuracy.

Unfornatually, I had just purchased a Megellan 330 and they are not planning to make this avaiable for the Megellans. I am looking for a work around.

Does anyone know of a NEMA to RINEX conversion program? Has anyone collected a stream of NEMA data from a Megellan and saved the data to a file?

Thanks

Haven't done it myself, but GPS receivers in NMEA mode just output strings of data to the serial port.

You need to know for your GPS what the baud rate, parity settings etc. are.

Then just launch hyperterminal with those settings and watch the info display on ther terminal. You can save the terminal output as a text file.

There's nothing one can do with NMEA data as far as converting to Rinex as in NMEA all the processing has been done and the variables/data required to process aren't available.

The Magellan will output NMEA as will almost all other GPS receivers but the raw data output from "some" Garmin reeivers is something Garmin don't confirm (but they don't deny it either).

Cheers, Kerry.
