Guest nhope
Hi all im on the verge of ordering my first gps I cant decide between the emap uk and the vista uk both simaler prices I want it for geocashing hiking mainly lake district and scotland and using in the car a little it seems the vista has compass and alimeter both usless acording to these groups but it also has waas how inportant is this. Any comments please on these models or any other that might suit me. thanks P.S. I think im just down the road from you moss trooper Houghon-le-Spring Hi. Quote Link to comment
Guest Moss Trooper
Yup.. Just down the road. Well use the vista, and happy with it. The emap isn't as robust as the vista so I am lead to belive. So if you plan on usin it fer walkin then I would go for the Vista (No I ain't biased ! Much ) The Altimeter is accurate, as long as you calibrate at begining of a walk. and the compass, well I believe the accuracy has been improved due to firmware upgrades (downloadable) WAAS isn't very important, not that neccessary as it only improves the accuracy by 50% an takes ages to aquire an eats batteries. Although the Emap has a larger screen the resolution of the Vista is better.. just found that out as a collegue brought his in today and we had a comparison. I don't think the Emap has as many functions but has the advantage of more memory. But out of Me, Monz, Kimrobin an Jason .. 3 vistas to one Magellen Decision is yours bonny lad/lass whatever the case may be.. or not be.. who said I waffled.. I don't.. much!!! Quote Link to comment

Guest JasonW
But I got change from £50 due to being in the right place at the right time for mine - at normal prices you get change from £150 and it does more than you'll ever need to go caching - and my quadrifilar antenna does seem to work well under trees unlike these tinny Garmin things Quote Link to comment

Thanks Most outdoorsy shops sell them now, might be worth a ring around the likes of Blacks, erm and any others in Newcastle/Durham/Sunderland that I can't think of because I never use them - always use Wild Spirit in Alnwick (or CW Tents in Backworth) for outdoorsy stuff.
