Guest f-stop
Would any geo-bods out there like to mention any particular suitable /unsuitable items that they may have had placed in their caches...I've come back from my jollies to find that someone has logged my cache...and whilst I was pleased that it had been "visited yet again", I was rather alarmed to read that they had left some dog chews in my cache. The area where the cache is hidden is a very popular area for people walking their dogs....and having previously owned a dog for many years..I know how well tuned the canine sense of smell is. I am now desparate to visit my cache and am worried that it may well have been "logged" by Rover,Sheba or one of their pals. Please could I appeal to fellow cachers to think about the suitability of potential cache items. :-( Quote Link to comment

Critters have better noses than we do, and will bite, nibble or swallow your cache in an attempt to get to the goodies. Bottled water is a good alternative (and refreshing to geocachers)." Good advice for cache visitors as well as planters. Quote Link to comment

Guest Moss Trooper
Personally I don't like matches in a cache.. Quote Link to comment
Guest JasonW
Agree entirely on anything daft like that - last thing you need an unsavoury element discovering is a nice dry box of matches or a lighter in a woodland. A bit of common cement goes a long way Quote Link to comment

Guest Monz
Whilst I agree that putting temptation under their noses is not ideal... I suspect that out of a group of 3 unsavoury scrotes at least one maybe two of them will smoke and so the "tools of the trade" will most likely already be available... dont you think? I used to smoke and always used to remember my fags and forget the lighter... there is nothing worse when you are dying for a cig than not having anything to light it with. ...anyway thats my 2 cents worth Quote Link to comment
