+173Carver
Hey Waymarkers (the few, the proud), I was scrolling social media and found an urbanist talking about something I've never heard of or seen before, Moonlight towers! Wiki says: "A moonlight tower or moontower is a lighting structure designed to illuminate areas of a town or city at night. Only the collection of towers in Austin, Texas, have been termed historically "moonlight towers," a term that dates to the mid-20th century. The light from the towers was compared to moonlight, after they were installed in 1895." I thought it was so interesting. I can't find a category they could fit in, could this be a new niche category? From some quick research there aren't too many left and obviously not being constructed anymore. To widen this categories tally I thought replicas could be accepted. Thanks for your time and consideration, I'm looking forward to feedback and questions. 173Carver Quote Link to comment

Perhaps other categories can fill in the gaps. 1 Quote Link to comment
+saopaulo1
From wikipedia: "The moonlight towers in Austin, Texas, are the only known surviving moonlight towers in the world." They've been waymarked in the NRHP category already. 2 Quote Link to comment

+FamilieFrohne
To quote the mentioned article: "The towers were popular during the late 19th century in cities across the United States." This is a strong indicator for me, that these items are not global enough. Also there are only a handful left. And as already said, these could fit better in another category. 2 Quote Link to comment
+173Carver
Thank you all of your thoughts and perspectives. I'll look for the few that are way marked under NRHP's whenever I find myself in Austin, TX. Do any of you have thoughts on my previous post regarding Skywalks? (If so, please reply and quote there! ) Thanks again for your time and attention! Happy Waymarking! Quote Link to comment
