+Subarite
Congratulations to Team Blitz - Paul & Michael on reaching 100 caches. What were your most enjoyable caches and most difficult Andy. P.S. They hadn't logged the 100th cache when posted see here. ---------------------------------------- It has become appallingly obvious that our technology has exceeded our humanity - Albert Einstein [This message was edited by Subarite on February 01, 2003 at 01:24 PM.] Quote Link to comment
Seifer
I s'pose we're going to have to think of our list now, i already know what "hardest cache" is going to be Michael aka 1/2 of Team Blitz It's not a matter of win or lose...until you lose Quote Link to comment

+paul.blitz
quote:Originally posted by Subarite:Congratulations to Team Blitz - Paul & Michael on reaching 100 caches. Why, thank you.... we were debating whether to go & do a "special" cache, such as WW3 (didn't get hold of the "specialist equipment" in time for that), but in the end just did a local one. I thought about doing in the week, but as Michael has such an active social life, had to wait until today, as I felt we ought to do it together! {QUOTE}What were your most enjoyable caches and most difficult I very much enjoyed doing "Pine Needles": it took us about half an hour of searching, even WITH the clue, to find it.... but the fun thing is that it was EXACTLY where the clue said it would be.... I did "Glastonbury Tor" by myself.... having found the cache (down near the bottom) I proceded to ignoe any possible paths, and climed up the hill... which was fun, but at the top, well, WOW, what amazing views! "Blue lagoon" as a place was amazing... I never imagined I would find a place with so much sand, in the middle of Hampshire, which is known for all its chalk! Mind you, there's also a nice load of sand down at "On the way down to the wood" at Lyndhurst. "No Tree Cover, Part X" was fun: we had tried several places, had sudden inspiration, went there (in the dark of course) and had not found the cache..... I was about to suggest we come back again in the light when I realised my torch was shining straight at the cache! Oh, such joy! I did "walking with the dinasaurs" whilst up in Scarbough on a Hospital Radio conference. I went with 2 other delegates, late sunday morning... it was drizzling all the way... not an issue. We were on our way back, when the heavens just opened.... we were all soaked to the skins, mainly below the waist.... but when we got to the car, we just sat and giggled as the windows demisted... we were wet, but it had been FUN! Close to that, for the "most miserable weather" cache must be the "The White Horse of Kilburn" in Yorkshire, in th new year: it was drizzling heavily, it was cold.... I had on my waterprrof trousers, waterproof top, wellies, gloves etc. Michael and Callum weren't quite so well covered up. But we still found it, and enjoyed it! quote:P.S. They hadn't logged the 100th cache when posted I will confess to watching the NASA news conference about the Shuttle Crash..... and Michael's PC is being rebuilt, so he didn't login till after dinner on my PC. You know, there ARE other things in life, other than caching (honest!!!). Finally, I am going to have to say a BIG 'thank you' to T&J: our first cache was "One foot in the downs", and initially, I didn't have a GPS, but had read the clues, and been to the site, and had no luck. I then borrowed a GPS, and went there again, and STILL no luck.... So I emailed T&J, explaining where I had looked, and could they give a few more hints. I ended up having a smashing chat to Tim, and a few days later, they came along & met us at the cache, and gave us encouragement in finding the cache. What struck me was their enthusiasm, and how much they simply ENJOYED caching, and how much they were willing to help others.... and I've seen that same attitude amongst pretty well ALL cachers I have met! It's a pleasure being "a member of the family"! Paul Team Blitz White gravel? What white gravel? I can't see any.... heck, who cares! Quote Link to comment
+paul.blitz
quote:Onwards to the second century now!!!!!! Whilst out today, we came up with a couple of thoughts: First, it would be interesting to "freeze" everyone's cache counts at today's values, and see who can do their NEXT 100 the soonest! The nice thing about that is that it actually HELPS the newcomers, as they will have more to choose from.... those with, say, 200 finds are going to have to be EXTRA dedicated to travel further to find another 100 caches. Second... how's about everyone putting in a quid or two to buy something fun (a big bottle of 25 year old Malt? Petrol vouchers?) for the first person to make the THOUSAND? +The Merman
Hearty congratulations to you on the century guys. I was noticing today that the rate that new caches are being placed in this area the second hundred should save on your fuel bills! I woke this morning and my boat was not rocking...for one horrid moment I thought I lived in a house! Quote Link to comment

+MarcB
Well done on getting your 100th! I remember chatting about it, in the pub on the rainy night before the meet. As for me: 16 down 84 to go Shame you cant get points for hiding caches MarcB "We searched for hours in the cache area but all we could find was an ammo box in a little hollow. Suggest you archive the cache..." Quote Link to comment
+The Hornet
Well done guys - that 100 seems to have come round very quickly. Just how long DID it take you? Intersting to read through this (and similar) threads just how much interest there is in 'Scores'. I've read elsewhere that reaching certain numbers and watching 'scores' is a bad thing and the only thing we should be doing is finding caches purely for the sake of finding caches. I have to disagree. This element of 'scoring' adds an extra little bit of fun into an already enjoyable game. Friendly rivalries develop (the emphasis here on the FRIENDLY) which all go to add to the overall enjoyment. Long may it last. Will we be able to celebrate your double-ton by the time of the next meet in April I wonder!! _________________________________________________________ It is better to regret something you did, rather than to regret something you didn't do. But Michael though it could be interesting who, starting from "today", could get 100 new caches... and I realised it would be quite interesting, simply because those who have NOT done many actually have the advantage, thus leveling the field a bit. But, heck, it would still be a no-contest.... Subarite would STILL do it first!!! quote: Wouldnt be fair to disable there finds....also master cachers like T+J etc want to have there caches to the name. Just how long DID it take you? 5/6/2002 One Foot in The Downs (Hampshire) 2/1/2003 Banjo and Barrow So almost exactly 9 months. It was helped by (a) doing a few caches when on summer holiday in the Netherlands; ( visiting Yorkshire over the new year week, with a VERY well prepared plan of attack (PC with maps, OS maps from library, big wad of cache sheets, waypoints ll prepared etc etc); © doing a few whilst away on business! +The Merman
I worked out that it will take me a year to do the 100. I start out the day with intentions of doing 5 or 6 caches and get sidetracked by great views and fascinating features and end up with one or two new finds. You know what? I wouldn't have it any other way! I woke this morning and my boat was not rocking...for one horrid moment I thought I lived in a house! Quote Link to comment

I wouldn't have it any other way! How familiar that sounds! If I only do 1 cache and the hunt/view is worth it, that's all that really matters. If you really want, I'm sure I could knock up a page Of course, different teams would want different 'zero dates'... Something I have been mulling over is a graph showing days in sport on the X-axis, and total caches found on the Y-axis. There would be one line for the cacher(s) in question, and one line which is an average of everyone in the sport (UK). So you could compare your progress against the "average UK cacher" or, for any rival teams out there, against each other. Anyway, CONGRATULATIONS on the century! Quote Link to comment
+Tim & June
Very well done Team Blitz. It doesn't seem that long ago that we first met you at your first find. Knew you were hooked though There's something nice about reaching a number with two zero's isn't there? Won't it be nice to reach three zeros. Many thanks for the compliments you paid us above too. Allways glad to help and allways nice to meet new cachers. Tim & June (Winchester) See June, I told you that sign which said 'Unsuitable for Motor Vehicles' was wrong ! Quote Link to comment

Seifer
Alright, my dad has given his, now it's my turn Hardest cache: Burial mound, everyone knows the story by now so i won't repeat it here Most Frustrating: The (Team T8) fox hunt, we were a mile behind the buggers for about three stops, we got them in the end though! Most Fluky Find: No Tree Cover Part X, see my dads comments Best location: Probably "Black Magic" By D&P, amazing place that i never knew existed Best cache: This goes Jointly between: Dips, by far the most phsycally challenging (and fun) cache to get to, took us three tries but it was worth it! QL2: This was a good afternoon spent hunting around an orange tent, despite getting stung by the bush! The Walls (Final Hurdle), took us ages, but it was worth it, nice hidingm place. Finally a big thank you to everyone who has been caching with us, Andrew and Richard to name but two. Mike Michael aka 1/2 of Team Blitz It's not a matter of win or lose...until you lose Quote Link to comment
