Quiz Maker for Puzzle/Mystery Caches?

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

I have an idea for a mystery hide of some sort.  In order to learn about a particular thing I want to create an online quiz where people attempting the quiz have to get a certain number of questions right (researchable online, but still somewhat tricky). Should they succeed in this task the final cache coordinates should be given.  Where would I go online to create a quiz like this?

Thanks in advance

I don't know any generic "quiz generator" web site. While I have solved a few "online quiz"-type puzzle caches, these were always built by the COs themselves in their own webspace.

However, if you only have a non-sequential set of questions (i.e., the questions are independent, and no question relies on the answer to a preceding one), you might have a look at this geochecker:

https://www.gc-apps.com/en/

It's quite popular in my region (southern Germany). It's a bit like Certitude (i.e., you can also ask for words/phrases instead of only coordinates), but supports more than one question, so that the final coordinates are only revealed if you get all answers right. You can fine-tune the support you want to give to the players in case at least one answer is wrong - e.g. just say "Nope, there's one or more error", or "There are <x> wrong answers" or even point out exactly which answers are wrong.

Great! This is exactly what I was looking for!

Do you have a GC number for a couple of those caches so that I may look at an example of how the checker works with a multi answer puzzle cache? Thank you.

Only German ones, e.g. my own https://coord.info/GCABCDC .

But you should get the idea: 5 questions, you enter an answer for each one (can be a "dummy" like "???"), and submit. I configured it so that you get the number of correct answers at the top (e.g. "0 out of 5 are correct"). When all 5 are correct, you get a "completion message", which in my case simply shows the final coordinates. As usual, after 10 unsuccessful tries, you are blocked for a while (1 hr, IIRC).
