+Geocaching HQ Posted October 22 Posted October 22 With this release, we are introducing minor updates to the Search map on Geocaching.com. The updated map will be rolled out gradually over the next four weeks. By November 18, all players will use the new Search map. Updates and fixes include: A new "Undo" button on the Filters pop-up allows players to undo any new filter changes back to the previous settings. This button appears after any filter is changed. Compare with the "Reset" button, which resets all filters back to their default settings. The filter button no longer indicates that filters are applied when they are not. When selecting geocaches for a list, the “Add to List” popup is now supported in the Safari browser, too. Paul (AngryBees32), Web Product Owner, is watching this thread to answer questions whenever possible. Any posts in this thread should relate to features in this release. Comments unrelated to the release may be removed. Please direct unrelated comments to other appropriate threads. Thanks! 1 2 Quote

+capoaira Posted November 16 Posted November 16 Today, I found a bug, on the new Map. When clicking on a cache at the map, the sidebar does not open. This is a very annoying behaviour. Please fix it. 3 Quote
+janrei_ Posted November 17 Posted November 17 Would it be possible to add an option in the filter dialog to search around the center of the map? I got used to the functionality with the old maps that I could just move it somewhere and perform a search there. Now I have to click the "Search this area" button first, which makes this a bit more cumbersome for me. Quote

When you say the sidebar doesn't open, do you mean that when the sidebar is collapsed, and you click on a cache, you expect the sidebar to expand, but it doesn't? Quote

For me, the Browse Map works fine. In the Search Map, when I click on a cache icon, nothing happens. I can't open the cache details or anything. This is on PC, Chrome, Windows 10. 1 Quote

In the Search map, when the sidebar is collapsed allowing a full screen view of the map, nothing happens if I click on a cache. If the sidebar is open, however, I get the cache details and can click on the link to open the cache page. I typically will have the sidebar open anyway, so it's all working as expected for me, in both Edge and Chrome on Windows 11. Are you saying the sidebar used to open and show the cache details when it was initially closed? I haven't used the Search map much as I prefer the Browse map. 1 Quote

The sidebar used to open automatically when a cache was clicked. Our engineering team is working on a fix for that. 1 Quote

Or are you experiencing an additional problem not reported by the others? Quote
+barefootjeff Posted November 20 Posted November 20 Here's another Search Map oddity I've noticed over the last few days. When clicking on View Larger Map on a cache page, the map opens over a spot several kilometres away from the cache. 3 Quote

Or are you experiencing an additional problem not reported by the others? My answer will depend slightly on how it is expected to work. Currently, while working with the Search Map, if the side bar is open, when I click on a cache icon, the cache information is loaded into the sidebar. If the side bar is close, and I click on a cache on icon, nothing appears to happen, and I have to manually open the sidebar. Because the sidebar tab is white, and the Geocaching Map is pretty white, the tab to open the sidebar blends into the map. It isn't intuitive that I need to open the sidebar to retrieve the cache information. Quote
+Die Batzen Posted November 20 Posted November 20 In Chrome, the scrollbar in the sidebar is missing. In Firefox, the scrollbar is perfectly visible. 2 Quote

+janrei_ Posted November 20 Posted November 20 I noticed two small localization issues with search results shown in the sidebar: event dates are formatted based on my language and status labels (e.g. "Disabled") are always in English. After clicking on an event, everything is correct (meaning that the "Placed on" date uses the format set in preferences and the status is translated). Quote
