How do I mark a travel bug from collectable to "discover only"?

The drop down menu only gives me the option of:

Recalculate distance

Mark item as missing

Lock

On the edit page the only options I see is to:

Make this Trackable collectible  (check the box) or uncheck the box

There is no "Discover Only" checkbox, but there is a process where you could make something like that happen.  Most cachers would be better served by simply activating the Trackable and never messing with complex settings.  But here it is:

In order to add a Trackable to a Collection, the owner must first check the box "[Yes] Is Collectible", (or "Make this Trackable collectible") and Submit the page.  Then you'll see that a new Action has become available on the Trackable's main page, "Move to Collection".  After you move it to your Collection, the only log options available to others are "Discover" and "Note".  While it's in a Collection, it cannot be placed into any Inventory, including your Inventory (You can't "Grab" it, for example).  It's "out of play".  So be sure that it is never physically placed into a cache container.  That confuses everyone.

Good luck!

These are good instructions.  Why would you want to add to your collection and make it discover-only?  I've done that for a couple reasons:

1) I've made a few trackable geocaching videos on my YouTube channel, using Minecraft.  You watch the videos, collect the parts of the trackable codes, and then you can log that you discovered the trackable.  It wouldn't make sense for a virtual trackable item to be picked up by a geocacher.

2) I made a trackable "calling card", and created about 500 of those.  At first I didn't have it in my collection, but then one cacher would grab it in one state and another cache would do so in another state and it got crazy.  I didn't know about discover-only but quickly learned how to set this, and now people can just discover the card's code without moving it around in their inventory.  If there was just one card it would make sense to leave it out of my collection, but when there are multiple of the same code moving around, it doesn't.

Remember tho, that just because the only allowable logs are 'Discover' and 'Note', nothing stops someone from picking it up and putting it in their pocket, so Kunarion's admonition about NEVER 'Dropping' it into a cache is crucial.

Can you picture this? A cacher finds a cache, and there's a TB inside.

"Oh, cool!"

"Oh, wait. I'm trying to log it and there's no 'Grab' option in the dropdown. I guess I'm not supposed to take it with me; I'd better put it back because I can't accurately log my action.

I mean, I'm that conscientious and would never take it with me, but ... would you?
