Events and 2 weeks notice

I've only just discovered the Geocaching website, and I have a great idea for a World Postcard Day event (going to the oldest post office in my area to see the museum, send some postcards from the post office, and use the letterbox hybrid cache there) I feel it is quite in the spirit of the event, but I didn't know about the date restrictions and am too late to post it for the week!

Is there a way to get around this restriction, especially if it's "on brand" for an HQ-endorsed (and "souveniered") event? The earliest I can select a date is October 6th!

One of several reasons for this Guideline is to provide advance notice of Event Caches, in order to facilitate higher attendance.  There are already "World Postcard Day" events in Brampton, Burlington, Missisauga, Guelph, Barrie and Oshawa; many local geocachers will have already made plans to attend one or more of these.

Another reason for the hard-coded two week restriction is to allow time for the review process.  Based on your summary, what you described is not an "Event Cache" but rather a series of optional post-event activities.  The Event Cache would be a meeting at a fixed location, lasting at least 30 minutes.  Your Reviewer would work with you during the review process, but time for that is now short.

I encourage you to gain more experience with geocaching, including attending some Event Caches hosted by others.  Then, host an event yourself, allowing for at least two weeks' notice when initially submitting the cache page for review.
