Slytherin Posted November 4, 2002 Posted November 4, 2002 Can you remind us again of the rules, Mark. How often will you be stopping and for how long. Alex. Quote
+TheCat Posted November 4, 2002 Author Posted November 4, 2002 As this event is covering a wide area this fox will help a little in its capture. If you find I am getting near to you and you would like me to stop you will be able to ring me and request a stop. Please only do this when you are near. I will be stopping for at least 5 mins every hour as well. The Fox will be on 24/7 during the event and I will not be to far away from the car. So if you are like Dan & Pid you can do a bit of night caching. Numbers and more information can be found on the cache page for this event. The Waypoint number is GC9824. I look forward to seeing you all on the event. Numbers will be published Thursday Morning. Regards Mark. Mark (TheCat) www.geocacheuk.com Quote
ghost_inthe_machine Posted November 5, 2002 Posted November 5, 2002 Mark, you're mad What a fantastic idea. I do have a couple of wee questions though. Have you thought about your 'requested stops' ? i.e. how long do you think you'll stop for ? Even from close by, I imagine homing in on you will take some time. What will you do on say dual carrigeways (I see you're doing A30 at some point and this could easily be the case there) so even if you use a lay-by or services, the hunter may be travelling the other way. Have you considered marking the side and rear of your vehicle with something distinctive so hunters can flash thier lights at you (whilst maintaing safe distances and speed of course) ? e.g. the geocaching logo. Or would that make the 'catch' too easy ? Have you also considered conning some friends into (or automating by some method) a regularily updated (say hourly) web page of your last known location so that those of us who may be near your proposed route can keep an eye on the page rather than page your device at regular intervals to see when you get close. Are you planning on keeping going through the night ? Looking at the route I guess that must be the only way to do it. I'll wish you, and your hunters all the best. Roddy Quote
+TheCat Posted November 5, 2002 Author Posted November 5, 2002 The car will be noticable it will have Children in Need posters on it etc. The whole point of this cache is to be caught. On Thursday morning I will post both numbers so people can call voice and arrange a stop if thay want. I have enlisted the aid of a non geocacher from work who will take phone calls while we travel and arrange the stops to suit the chasers. We are going to do all in our power to help the chasers. You have here a Kamakazi Fox. If you want a stop please ring us and let us know and we will put you on the route providing you are not to far off from the route we are traveling. Ring us as soon as you can so we can plan. Regards Mark. Mark (TheCat) www.geocacheuk.com Quote
+Nia Posted November 6, 2002 Posted November 6, 2002 What is a .mps file, that is what do i do with it? Tech-no notice Quote
+SimonG Posted November 6, 2002 Posted November 6, 2002 An .mps file is a file containing routes/waypoints for Garmin MapSource. If you've not got MapSource, there are probably programs around that will convert it to other formats. W ezlf fr Cnzfajnzb Omdg, mlx mnn w prf emq fjwq nrhqb abojzd. Quote
