+Pooter
After extensive market research amongst the Scottish caching community (ie: everybody coming back with different preferred dates and me making an abitrary decision) the Scottish Cache Bash will be held on the 20th September. The location will be in Balerno / Currie which is 6 miles south-west of Edinburgh City Centre and easily accessible by bus or train as well as by car. We will run it along similar lines to the hugely successful Northern Cache Bash and you will have to cache your way (not too taxing) to a secret pubbish location. I'm sure that some of you down south will want to come up and sample good old Scottish hospitality and maybe tackle a walk in the Pentland Hills. The pub and other establishments in the vicinity will offer accomodation for those who may want to indulge to excess. Any idea of numbers? When time comes, we'll all be drownded, lad Quote Link to comment
+Pharisee
I've got some holiday left so I'll do my best to make it. Err... by the way... will the dreaded Scottish Midges be out of the way by then or will I need to bring full tropical mosquito defences?? +Lance Ambu
Tempting, very tempting. I would love to be there, but I will have to consult the oracle first, then the ferries, then work and finally the bank. Don't write me off, just yet. It's dark and we're wearing sunglasses. Quote Link to comment
+Travers
So long as we can get a babysitter for the dogs, we'll come. We quite fancy a weekend in Edinburgh...haven't been there for ages! Quote Link to comment

+Mr & Mrs Hedgehog
That is so annoying If you made it a day later then the Hedgehogs from Hampshire would have loved to attend, but we'll be on a train from Bournemouth to Carlise that day, we'll move on to Edinburgh on the Sunday. +Walker Dan
Won't be able to make it as the "Toon" are at home to Bolton that day unless Sky decide to change it. Had to delay the Honey moon as we played Sunderland on the Sunday after the big day, and we won 1-0, thank you Scott Sellars , so unfortunately, the footie comes first. Quote Link to comment

jonnyahh
Tell me which pub it's at and I may well be there with wife & dogs. But then it's such a long way away...... PS We just did the Walk (or Cycle) in Pentland Hills cache and the midges were bad - could only stay there for a few minutes! +Lance Ambu
Hi Pooter, count me out please. Her indoors promised to take the kids to Ballamory(Tobermory) So that's where we are heading 20-23 August. Yes! she did promise that before looking at a map or a calendar but I'd rather not explain that to her just at the moment. So, good news - I will be back in Scotland soon Bad news - not in sync with the Scottish Cache Bash. Have a token pint of guinness for me It's dark and we're wearing sunglasses. Quote Link to comment
+Pooter
Hi Folks For more details see the cache page, here We'll be open all day and I promise that the midgies will be dead or at least, a bit groggy. Kilts are optional. When time comes, we'll all be drownded, lad Quote Link to comment

I am not long back from Ireland and from what I remember about the Guinness you would be better having one on your side of the sea. That way you don't get stale stuff from the pipes. Oh, and use a fork It's dark and we're wearing sunglasses. Quote Link to comment
+Naefearjustbeer
Not long now . When are the cache locations getting posted. And can anyone recommend the best roads to take when aproaching from the North! +Pooter
Caches will go live on Friday 12th. Hopefully the Eckster will approve them by Sat 13th. Go down the M90, cross the Forth road bridge (free going south), down the A90, onto the A902 then onto the city bypass A702 and get off at Colinton and work your way back to Currie. No problem, See you there. When time comes, we'll all be drownded, lad Quote Link to comment

If you are quick, 2 of the caches contain a ticket that will get you a free bottle of wine at the cache. Thanks to the Eckster for such rapid approval. +Firth of Forth
Been finding caches without a GPS. It may be a good idea for me to own one. Does anyone coming to the cache bash have one that they would like to sell? I know that the geocaching boys like to update their models. Quote Link to comment
+Pooter
I've got a yellow Magellan Meridian that I don't use much since I got the new Garmin. Trouble is, that it's got a 64mb card and full maps for the UK loaded in, so it won't come too cheap. I'll bring it along so if anybody's interested--------- When time comes, we'll all be drownded, lad Quote Link to comment
+Naefearjustbeer
I have a few travel bugs to release/further on their journeys. Should I leave them in the caches or take them to the venue for the large tupperware box? AUT PAX AUT BELLUM Quote Link to comment
+Pooter
I'd save them for the Bash as Silver Fox is planning to set a few bugs free in the outlying caches. When time comes, we'll all be drownded, lad Quote Link to comment
DeputyDawg
Just to say,,, that was a good bit of publicity for the Bash on the front and inside pages of 'The Herald' supplement last Saturday!! An interesting article, well written, which will undoubtedly stir up some curiosity in geocaching overall .....nice one!! DeputyDawg Quote Link to comment
+Firth of Forth
Looks like there are going to be lots of TBs to swop. I had hoped to leave the International Money TB on the way to Wales earlier this week, but the caches I visited were too small to accommodate it, so I will bring it along tomorrow.
