sc
I was looking on the web to find the street price for an Etrex yellow... but I could find nothing under 120 pounds, which can't be right. I'm trying to figure out whether it is worth mailing one to my sister in the UK, given the postage, hassle, etc. Could someone please give me an idea of the UK price if one shops around? I got mine on Tottenham Court Road in Central London, can't remember which of the shops, and it was £109.00. I've not seen it cheaper anywhere else since. It's almost definitely better to send one across even with the hassle. Finding your caches - Losing my marbles. Quote Link to comment

sc
Yes, I can get one for about $80+tax here. Looks like it is worth buying one locally and shipping it to my sister. Thanks, all, for your comments. Quote Link to comment

Well, actually, you don't - the person you're shipping it to does. That's 17.5% It might be better to find a mail order supplier in the UK to get it delivered. ------- jeremyp The second ten million caches were the worst too. http://www.jeremyp.net/geocaching Quote Link to comment
+Tim & June
I heard somewhere that if the items shipped are "Warrany replacements" or "Gifts" there is no tax to pay. Might be worth checkin this out first though. Tim & June (Winchester) See June, I told you that sign which said 'Unsuitable for Motor Vehicles' was wrong ! Quote Link to comment
Seifer
I cheated on my yellow eTrex: I bought it from amazon .com & got it shipped to someone in US. Then, someone else I know in England who was out there, collected it, and brought it in as part of their luggage. So it ended up tax & vat free Paul Blitz (using Michael's login!) +Huga
Have seen yellow eTrexes in 'Field and Trek' and Millets for £160 in both places. Maplin have them for £129.99. Oh, and Field and Trek have a big poster in their window advertising the 'Garmin Etrek'. +Pharisee
Just to add another price to the growing list... Global Positioning Systems are adertising them for £114.49 inc. VAT.
