+krabbcachers Posted August 25, 2024 Posted August 25, 2024 The other day I was browsing caches and came across GC9YT73, which seems to have multiple fake 'found it' logs created by basic members with only 1 find to their profile. Today, a similar profile posted what seems to be a false DNF on my daughter's cache. I assume whoever is doing this is simply being a troll. False 'found it' logs may be a nuisance for the CO's inbox, but multiple fake 'DNF's' will discourage people from attempting a cache, ruining everyone's fun. Have others come across this? Is GC.com aware of this and is there any means of eliminating these nuisance profiles from their side? 1

You can always log an "Owner Maintenance" and tell the following geocacher that everything is OK, cache is in good condition and can be found. I just had a look at GC9YT73 and the owner is responsible for deleting those logs and report it to GS. Edited August 25, 2024 by Mausebiber
+lee737 Posted August 25, 2024 Posted August 25, 2024 Don't worry about the newbies.... what about the 10's of thousands finds cachers who do similar..... found it logs only of course. 3
+KYcachingguy Posted August 26, 2024 Posted August 26, 2024 Or the throwdown caches when the true cache is there, they just couldn't find it and didn't message the owner. I've been finding a lot of those. As an owner, that ticks me off more than a fake log on line. 3
geoawareUSA9 Posted August 26, 2024 Posted August 26, 2024 As I noted the other day, the forums should not be used to call out other cachers or their log. Closing thread.
