Worse:  View any cache page --> "You have earned a souvenir!"

 

1. Once is enough ... or more than enough.

2. The system hasn't noticed I already turned OFF that "souvenir".

Yes, I logged something yesterday.  (Today, for yesterday.)  To avoid this, I could've just mis-dated the trad finds (as done for that whole August of badges), but the event I logged was fixed to that date, and it would've been discourteous to not log a friend's event.  The things I do for my friends...

 

BTW, sometimes the popup goes away by itself, good.  Sometimes it doesn't.  When it doesn't, there's an invisible "X" in the corner that works as expected ... if you hit it right.  Otherwise you get a marketing page.

 

When you see a popup enough times to notice changes in its behavior, you're seeing that popup too often.

I had this happen a year or so ago in the phone app.

 

Eventually, it went away.

 

Log out & back in repeatedly and give it some time. I think I remember I saw that for a week or so.

On the website?  I regularly get that:  log a cache which nets me the souvenir and also displays the message.  Every log after that re-displays the same message.  Not sure when it gives up but it eventually stops.

Interesting, I experienced just the opposite with the recent International Geocaching Day souvenir.  We attended an event that day; I logged it later that evening (from a draft made at the event, not sure if that makes a difference) and didn't see the souvenir pop-up at all.  I checked, and I do have the souvenir, but never saw the pop-up notification.  I have seen it in the past, but not recently.
