+Calypso62 Posted August 13, 2024 Posted August 13, 2024 Someone I know has received a Community Celebration Event listing for next year but will be unable to host an event. Can this be adopted out to another cacher? Quote

Hopefully, they would be able to join you. Quote
+Calypso62 Posted August 13, 2024 Author Posted August 13, 2024 Unfortunately, the person in question passed away. I suppose a CCE could be held to honour him as well as celebrate 25 years of geocaching. I'm not sure I'm happy about that but will give it some thought. Thanks for your suggestion. 1 Quote
+peter-tvm Posted August 13, 2024 Posted August 13, 2024 (edited) At least virtual reward 2 and 3 was able to be adopted. So my guess is that it's possible to adopt a community celebration event also. It easy to start the adoption process and se if the system accepts it: https://www.geocaching.com/adopt/ I assume that someone has access to the account of the deceased geocacher? It's only the account in question that can initiate the adoption. Edited August 13, 2024 by peter-tvm Quote
+Calypso62 Posted August 13, 2024 Author Posted August 13, 2024 I have access to the account. I just tried the link in the previous message and it would appear the adoption process can take place. Thanks for the help. 👍 Quote
+paulohercules Posted August 13, 2024 Posted August 13, 2024 When I received my CCE it came with this text: Congratulations! You were selected to receive a Community Celebration Event (CCE) from Geocaching HQ to host an Event in 2025. You were selected because you met the following requirements: You hosted at least one Event and hid at least one cache in 2024 You can host a Community Celebration Event in 2025 to help geocachers celebrate 25 years of geocaching with a special icon and souvenir. Your event is one of approximately 2,025 unpublished Community Celebration Events released each month. Geocaching HQ began to distribute these special event pages beginning July 1, 2024 and will continue until all qualifiers receive one. To see your unpublished event, select the “Community Celebration Event (GCXXXXX)” link near the top of this email. To be published, your Community Celebration Event: Must take place between January 1, 2025 and December 31, 2025 Must last at least two (2) hours Must meet the Community Celebration Event guidelines Before submitting your cache for review, please update: Event name (“Community Celebration Event” can be part of title, but doesn’t have to be) Event date (must take place between January 1, 2025 and December 31, 2025) Start time and End time (event must be at least 2 hours long) Posted coordinates Location Terrain rating (if necessary) Attributes Make sure you have NOT removed the standard text in your cache description. This helps geocachers understand why these special Community Celebration Events were offered. You may translate the text to your local language, if you like. You could offer merchandise items for CCEs and 25 years of geocaching as prizes (available in the Geocaching Shop and International retailers in early 2025). Read more about Community Celebration Events in the Geocaching Blog. For questions about Community Celebration Events, please contact your local reviewer or Geocaching HQ (choose Appeals). If you decide not to host a Community Celebration Event in 2025, you can adopt the cache page to another geocacher or archive the page. Thank you for your contributions to the game and the geocaching community. Now, it’s time to start thinking about hosting this special Community Celebration for 2025! Happy geocaching, Your friends at Geocaching HQ Quote
