Bold and Italic

Why does bold and italic suddenly not display correctly even though I have marked segemens of my log to be shown this way? Worked fine until late last night and then suddenly the marked text is like the regular text and you can see the * marks instead of the text being changed. In some cases some of the text changes and some does not, which is even more unlogical. This also happend some years ago and was an ongoing problem for several weeks. Months? It really ruins the impression of the logs. Is there any way of fixing it? I am using a stationary computer and chrome while loging.

Do you have an example of a log that is not displayed as expected?

 

Please note that there may be differences depending on how you view the log. Currently, cache pages and log pages do not use the same Markdown parser. So for example, formatting parts of a word only works when editing and viewing individual logs, but not in the log section on cache pages. And the official apps do not support Markdown at all.

It becomes fun (for small values of fun) when you try to combine bold or italics with punctuation.  EG, (*finally*), splat bracket comma, now which order should those be?  Answer depends on where you're looking at the result.
