Slytherin Posted July 18, 2024 Posted July 18, 2024 The London - Beatles Abbey Road webcam cache hit 2,500 likes today. Coincidentally it was also a landmark 3000th cache find for geocacher GracesGold. Congratulations to her. https://coord.info/GL1CHM569 2,500 likes and just short of 8,000 logged visits. A historic cache in many respects. 4 1 Quote

+Goldenwattle Posted July 18, 2024 Posted July 18, 2024 That is a finer day than when I was there. A bit of a challenge trying to keep dry, click the phone to capture the image, and wave as per the instruction Quote

Slytherin Posted July 18, 2024 Author Posted July 18, 2024 The requirements are a lot more precise now to try to stop armchair logs from people who were never really there. Quote
Moun10Bike Posted July 18, 2024 Posted July 18, 2024 Sadly, the webcam was down the afternoon I was there last fall! It was up the next day, but by then we had already left the country. I look forward to trying again! 1 1 Quote

I obeyed the instructions, NOT standing on the crossing, but having the crossing is in the photograph. What other instructions were there? Quote
+MNTA Posted July 19, 2024 Posted July 19, 2024 Dumb question from across the pond I'm sure what are the zig zag lane lines for? 1 Quote

ETA: and you can't overtake in the zigzag area, not even a stationary vehicle. Edited July 19, 2024 by MartyBartfast Quote

I gather the instructions have changed over the years since you visited - the cache page now shows a very specific area to stand https://www.geocaching.com/geocache/GC6F12_london-beatles-abbey-road Quote

Since the tighter requirements have been adopted that seems to have stopped. Quote

If only HQ would allow for it ... I've got a perfect webcam in my town for years, that would be so nice to include as a geocaching webcam. It's been in full use and fully maintained by the tourist office for years. And will be for years to come ... Edited August 19, 2024 by NLBokkie 1 Quote

+BFMC Posted August 26, 2024 Posted August 26, 2024 When we made the trek across the globe from down under this time last year, this was the only cache that I deliberately went out of my way to get. As the only cacher in the family, everything else was just what we came across but I wasn't missing out on this one. Easily one of my top few favourite finds to date. 1 Quote
