+agash Posted July 4, 2024 Posted July 4, 2024 Start Search and use filter "Original coordinates only" [Apply] => The label in the header of the search results is "Solved coordinates only" For "Solved coordinates only" is also the opposite Label. 1 Quote
+thebruce0 Posted July 8, 2024 Posted July 8, 2024 (edited) Slightly related but not necessarily worth a new thread - I noted from some bookmarked searches that results had drastically changed. It seems some field values (along with some variable names) had been changed. It looks like re-mapping variable names had taken place, but values for multiple option selections have also changed but not been remapped, breaking the search results. For example, I had a bookmark for challenge caches in Ontario with no personal note, not found by me, at original coordinates. The prior bookmark url that gave me desired search results was: https://www.geocaching.com/play/search?ot=4&types=8&kw=challenge&nfb[0]=thebruce0&f=2&o=2&r=69&cc=2&sort=PlaceDate&asc=False&utr=false¬e=2 It now shows 41,000+ worldwide for me, and results at a redirected url: https://www.geocaching.com/play/results?cn=challenge&nfb=thebruce0&ct=8&hf=1&ho=1&asc=false&ot=4&r=69&cc=2&sort=PlaceDate&utr=false¬e=2 The region, coordinates, and personal notes results were lost. On simply re-querying the same search form without changing a thing, the url became this (seeming to strip off vestigial variables or those at default values): https://www.geocaching.com/play/results?sort=PlaceDate&asc=false&cn=challenge&ct=8&hf=1&ho=1&nfb=thebruce0 After a lot of fiddling around, I believe the original results I wanted can finally be re-attained with this url (which doesn't get redirected): https://www.geocaching.com/play/results?ot=region&ct=8&cn=challenge&nfb=thebruce0&hf=1&ho=1&cc=0&sort=PlaceDate&asc=false&st=Ontario%2C+Canada&oid=69&pn=0&r=16 (and requerying this same search unchanged looks to simply reorder the variables in the url which is fine and not unexpected) I notice a couple of stages taking places: 1] my bookmarked url gets redirected, 2] requerying the search without changing any options once again changes the url and the results. So it seems the back-end is remapping the variables, and the front end is sending off its own version of the variables as well, without having made any changes to the settings that the back-end is rendering for the user's search. Remapping variables is one good thing for backwards compatibility, but it would be nice if either the values can be remapped as well, or the values remain unchanged, or there's an inclusion in the release notes that state that the search form structure has been changed and bookmarked links may need manual updating.
