Adventure Lab Stop Switch to Unfound

Recommended Posts

I went to look for an available Adventure Lab stop to find today and noticed one appeared that I had already found (Screenshot 1). I saw the blue dot while I was in another AL. I clicked the blue dot to switch. Sure enough, the AL had the stop as unfound even though I had found it and had completed the AL (Screenshot 2). I clicked on the red dot to see what would happen and the question was available to answer, even though I had previously found it. I was not close enough to trigger the app and input an answer (Screenshot 3).

I contacted the the owner of the AL and she told me that she had recently changed the answer. Apparently, this caused the AL stop to show up as unfound, even though I had found it. I have not seen this happen before. I have changed an answer on one of my own ALs and I have never had a report of this issue.

Do I answer it? Do I get credit for a find again? Is there a way to make it disappear and count as found?

Did the Adventure owner edit an existing location, or did they replace it by deleting the prior location that you found, and adding a new location in its place?  As warned in the Builder's Guide, "you cannot delete or add locations without disrupting the experience and point system for players.  Edits to the Adventure description or Locations can be made in the builder anytime."

Also, I'm moving this thread to the Adventures forum category.  It's a coin flip as to whether the discussion belongs in "Creating" or "Playing" an Adventure, but for sure, the question is not about the official Geocaching apps.

It would be great if the builder actually prevented deleting or adding locations once an AL has gone live. Give a warning the first time "Public" is clicked, then after that Add Location and Delete Location should be greyed out.

I contacted the owner again. She did indeed delete a question and add a new one. That would explain why a new stop appeared. It's not far away, so I will probably stop by and give it try and see what happens.

That is so unfortunate. They really need to prevent that from happening considering the problems it causes.
