+peem Posted June 18, 2024 Posted June 18, 2024 Due to ill health I haven't done so much caching for a while. Today I tried to delete some old caches from my gps using basecamp. The thing is when I click on internal storage it says 'this filter is empty'. I know they are in the gps because I can see them. I'm thinking that as its been a while since I've done this that I'm maybe missing something or maybe it's not the way to remove caches. If so, can you tell what I'm doing wrong? Quote
+StefandD Posted June 18, 2024 Posted June 18, 2024 Open Windows Explorer (Mac: Finder) Navigate to your gpsr. Navigate to \Gamin\GPX. Delete all gpx files, leave the subdirectories. Navigate to \Gamin\GGZ. Delete all ggz files. If you youse a Mac: empty the trash bin. If you have a SD card installed, do the same there. Quote
+peem Posted June 18, 2024 Author Posted June 18, 2024 Thank you StefandD, that worked much better than basecamp. Which leads me to ask, Does basecamp not work anymore? Anyway, thanks again. Quote
JaVaWa Posted June 18, 2024 Posted June 18, 2024 BaseCamp can delete caches in GPX files, but it cannot delete caches in GGZ files. That's by design because GGZ files can contain millions of caches. Quote
+peem Posted June 18, 2024 Author Posted June 18, 2024 Thanks JaVaWa but why didn't my caches show in internal storage as it always did? As I say its been a while since I've used it. Quote
JaVaWa Posted June 18, 2024 Posted June 18, 2024 (edited) 4 hours ago, peem said: 'this filter is empty' I missed that before... You have set a filter (on the bottom left of the BaseCamp window) and selected a category of items that aren't on your GPS. Select the proper filter category or close the filter option (click on the icon with a funnel). Edited June 18, 2024 by JaVaWa Quote
