Guest Moss Trooper
Hi Fellman. Check out http://www.gpsw.co.uk/.. they have the gps you have been offered plus all the others.. The only one in the long run who can make the decision is you. I use a garmin Vista. I like it.. am used to it.. is it the best.. I dunno.. never had the cash to try all of them.. Most on here use Garmin in one form or other.. ( Jason is a Turncoat) Just jokin bonny lad. Look at the site.. see what is available, see what you can afford.. in the long run.. if you can get away with a magnetic needle, piece of thread an still geocache.. go for it.. is great fun wether yer succeed or not.. ) enjoy the hobby .. Guest Fellman
Hello Moss thanks for the advice and the info,I've looked at the GPSW site that you suggested, they certanly do have a good selection. On reading the spec for the unit I am interestd in,I was quite suprised to see they quote an accuracy of about 3 metres, is this figure about average for hand held units. I am just a little bit concerned that this unit is marine orientated and perhaps not quite suitable forland based use. Fellman quote:Originally posted by Moss Trooper:Hi Fellman. Guest Fellman
Thanks Scotty, I take on board what you say, it would seem that Garmin units are the most popular. Fellman quote:Originally posted by Scottworld:3 meters is probably under the best conditions, most handhelds will get you withing 5-10 meters easily, depending on treecover number / position of satelites etc etc. Scotty... owner of a Garmin EMAP, and a Garmin LEGEND. Both are great units Quote Link to comment

Fellman Heh - but just remember that the most popular is not always the best..... remember Betamax? versus VHS? - Beta had a way better quality of picture but died on it's *** because of a lot of other pressures, not because VHS is technically superior (it isn't by the way). I'll stick with my Magellan 315 and it's quadrifilar antenna and be less encumbered by tree cover than you Garmin boys Quote Link to comment
