The conversion spreadsheet has now been renamed "The Waypoint Workbench" to reflect the huge amount of functionality it provides.

This latest version represents a consolidation of the existing features, a few new features and some bug fixes.

The bugs fix various issues relating to Excel97 and versions of Windows the spreadsheet had not been tested on.

Extra Functionality is:

Import ExpertGPS

Export Mapsource

Distances now available in Statute and Metric

Straight Through Processing" Option which allows conversion directly between file formats.

How to get hold of it:

Go to http://www.sheps.clara.net/SSVersions.html and you can download the latest version from there.

Thumbs up to your spreadsheet guys, but one question.

I was wondering how do I get a printout of the spreadsheet?

I set it up yo print out a test page and it started to print out green!

I don't know anything about exel so I am probably doing something wrong!

Great work though.

Just to say a huge thanks to Chris for taking the time to put a feature on the conversion utility for me.

As a sailor I asked him what the chances were of having a nautical miles feature, and he sent me back the finished worksheet within a heartbeat.

Any other sailors out there will appreciate being able to convert to nautical.

Thanks Chris.

I originally tested it on some off the Ipaqs at work and it seemed to work ok. Do you get any error message at all?

Hmmm,

Not sure what would cause that as I only issue a hyperlink function the rest is up to Microsoft Excel.

Though it would seem unlikely that MICROSOFT Excel running on MICROSOFT Windows would open in any other browser but MICROSOFT Internet Explorer - or am I just being cynical??

Hi Chris

I've never used your spreadsheet before so I may be doing something wrong. I've just downloaded it and clicked on the Settings button, and got the following:

Complie error: Automation type not supported in Visual Basic.

The text highlighted in VB is:

Public Function VB5Split(ByVal sIn As String, _

Optional sDelim As String = " ", _

Optional nLimit As Long = -1, _

Optional bCompare As VbCompareMethod = vbBinaryCompare) _

As Variant

Cheers,

Lisa

Hi Lisa,

Someone else reported that problem last night - it's not something you are doing (or something I am doing). Can you let me know what version of Excel you are running so that I can pin the problem down. Also can you send me an email so that I can mail you a version to try out.

Thanks

Chris

I have clicked help but I am not making much sense of what its telling me!!

I have gone to

Yip tried that and all I get is the following

A file named C:\waypointworkbench_error.xls already exists in this location do you want to replace it.

It doesnt matter if I click yes or no it then comes up with

Hmmm something has gone wrong with the code not sure what but Chris might etc etc etc. it then opens up the speed camera waypoint file in a normal excel page. after I click the ok or cancel button

I have been able to import a easygps file no problem at all and export them.

Cheers

Donnie

edit I have sent the error file via the email to you. It is nearly a Mb in size

Thanks Chris, I'd tried this spreadsheet out many months ago, and didn't realise at the time that it plucked the multi-cache points/suggested parking places from the GPX files. I've recently started to enter these into my GPS manually when I decide I am definitely doing a cache. This will be a good time saver, thanks!

One request..... is it possible to enable the "Show name" option by default against each Memory-Map waypoint created in the MXF file? I'm assuming not as otherwise it would probably have been done :o.

(memory-map photos text removed and posted in a new thread, Stuey)

Thanks very much, I will make use of this I expect!

Donnie,

I've mailed you back.

No need to apologise Chris, it's a demon piece of Excel coding. Nice one, thanks :D
