Aberdeen Aberystwyth Ashford Basingstoke Birmingham Bodmin Bournemouth Brighton Bristol Burnley Caernarfon Canterbury Cardiff Carlisle Chelmsford Chesterfield Colwyn Bay Coventry Derby Dorchester Dundee Edinburgh Exeter Exmouth Glasgow Gloucester Guildford Hastings High Wycombe Inverness Ipswich Leeds Leicester Liverpool London Manchester Middlesbrough Milford Haven Northampton Norwich Oxford Penrith Penzance Peterborough Plymouth Portsmouth Preston Ripon Salisbury Scarborough Sheffield Southampton Sunderland Swansea Taunton Torquay Truro Wakefield Worcester York I hope there will be a town near you. I will add more towns if people can not get to one of the ones that I am visiting. At the moment With the provisional route I have worked out I will travel about 3,000 miles in the week. I hope that as many of you will support this event as it is in a good cause. More details will be posted here in the coming weeks. Mark (TheCat) www.geocacheuk.com Quote
The Wombles Posted October 8, 2003 Posted October 8, 2003 So, no interrupted night's sleep in Chippenham Services? More seriously, it would be good if you could post a rough map or simply the order in which you'll be visiting these towns so we can work out when (and where) to intercept you? [Posted from the back of beyond] Dave Founder member of GAGB Quote
TheCat Posted October 8, 2003 Author Posted October 8, 2003 I will be posting the route about 2 weeks before I start. This is to give people time to comment on the towns I am visiting and to ask for any additions. Mark (TheCat) www.geocacheuk.com Quote
Slytherin Posted October 8, 2003 Posted October 8, 2003 quote:Originally posted by TheCat:(In alphabetical order). Aberdeen Aberystwyth Ashford Basingstoke etc.. etc.. I have to say that visiting them in alphabetical order is going to make it much harder. But best of luck.. ..and what happened to Dewsbury & Batley?? I believe we were first to catch you last year. Alex. ------------------------------------------------ Knights of the Green Shield stamp and shout..... Quote
TheCat Posted October 8, 2003 Author Posted October 8, 2003 I am not planning to visit them in alaphabetical order. I am not that daft. Ok well I am daft. As I am starting in Leeds and heading North I am sure that you might get another first find Alex. Oh and as a side issue I have noticed I have called this thread 2004 it should be 2003 Opps. +minstrelcat Posted October 9, 2003 Posted October 9, 2003 Is that the Ashford in Kent (as opposed to the one in Surrey)? Quote
stu_and_sarah Posted October 9, 2003 Posted October 9, 2003 No Nottingham? Is this the BBC visit thing? Or am I barking up the wrong tree? Cheers, Stu Quote
minstrelcat Posted October 9, 2003 Posted October 9, 2003 I thought Mark was visiting BBC TV & radio stations but BBC TV & radio in Kent comes from Tunbridge Wells not Canterbury or Ashford (as far as I know). Lisa Quote
MarcB Posted October 9, 2003 Posted October 9, 2003 Lol Birmingham is the closest to me. I wouldn't mind a Stafford in there- I think there are at least three other cachers (The Bennett Familiy, Haywood Hornet, Bess's Friends?) who are nearby. Only prob is that Stafford doesn't have a BBC station there! MarcB Took Log Book, Left Nothing Quote
Daisy&me Posted October 9, 2003 Posted October 9, 2003 Will be taking 'the fox' with you Mark? It would be fun to track your progress. ---------------- Dog be with you. Quote
Firth of Forth Posted October 9, 2003 Posted October 9, 2003 Perhaps someone could explain to the uninitiated of us what this is all about? How is it related to geocaching and what is a cacher supposed to do? Quote

TheCat Posted October 9, 2003 Author Posted October 9, 2003 I am having some problems with the BBC this time as thay are not doing so many concerts as thay call them. So visits to stations will be made but as and when. I will publish a provisional route in the next few days. Remember that I will be catachable at all times I am traveling. So I will not just be stopping at the towns on the route. When the numbers are published there will be a voice number so if you are near by you will be able to request me to stop and wait for you. Also minor detours will be accomodated if there is time. Mark (TheCat) www.geocacheuk.com Quote
TheCat Posted October 9, 2003 Author Posted October 9, 2003 Oh I forgot The Ashford is the one in Kent. Mark (TheCat) www.geocacheuk.com Quote
TheCat Posted October 9, 2003 Author Posted October 9, 2003 I have added the following towns to the route. Stoke on Trent Chippenham Shrewsbury This detour will mean I will be passing very near Stafford on the way from Stoke on Trent and Birmingham. Mark (TheCat) www.geocacheuk.com Quote
Firth of Forth Posted October 9, 2003 Posted October 9, 2003 Thanks for the replies Cat and Wombles. Sounds like a fun event. May 'catch' it in or around Edinburgh. Quote
The Hole-in-the-wall Gang Posted October 9, 2003 Posted October 9, 2003 Hi Mark , As you are traveling from Basingstoke to Portsmouth, may I request a stop over in sunny Andover. I will be only too happy to make you a cup of tea and donate appropriately. Any other Andover 'area' cachers that would like to meet up at our place or some other mutually convenient spot, feel free to e-mail me for directions and I'll get the kettle on. Cheers, John. +TheCat Posted October 9, 2003 Author Posted October 9, 2003 Andover has now been added the route will be Basingstoke Andover then Southampton. Mark (TheCat) www.geocacheuk.com Quote
plaid-dragon Posted October 10, 2003 Posted October 10, 2003 I might be able to catch you in Peterborough, but my chances would be a lot greater if Cambridge was added to the list. Quote
Daisy&me Posted October 10, 2003 Posted October 10, 2003 I'll try to cacth you at Basingstoke or Andover Mark. ---------------- Dog be with you. Quote
THE BRAMBLERS Posted October 10, 2003 Posted October 10, 2003 We hope to catch you somewhere between Andover and Southampton. Look forward to meeting you again, Mark. Debbie Quote
Kouros Posted October 10, 2003 Posted October 10, 2003 Having said that I would cycle to you this year, if you are in Andover on a day that I am working, I will probably try and catch you then, rather than ride to Southampton. Looking forward to it! ------ "There's Sparticus. That's him, over there." Quote
TheCat Posted October 10, 2003 Author Posted October 10, 2003 Just a bit more information for you all. Ian and I are working on a system that will enable you to track the fox on the internet this time. We are not sure how we are going to work it yet but the favorite at the moment is that the map will update every 10 miles that I travel plus when I stop. More information will be available when we get the system working. Mark (TheCat) www.geocacheuk.com Quote
TheCat Posted October 10, 2003 Author Posted October 10, 2003 I have added Cambridge into the route now. Mark (TheCat) www.geocacheuk.com Quote
Team Spike Posted October 10, 2003 Posted October 10, 2003 This looks like so much fun! - I wish I could get over to do it. BTW, BBC Radio Humberside is based in Hull. Although for some reason Hull appears to be in a Geocaching black hole compared to most of the country....sigh... Groover Quote
