Help Determining Category for my Waymarks

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I am working on setting up Waymarks on behalf of a local museum and historical society. The site features several historical buildings which I'd like to feature. I have been having some trouble determining appropriate categories for each of the buildings. I would appreciate any suggestions on categories which may fit the following buildings:

-One-room schoolhouse, dated 1887

-Sod-house (replica of original created in the 1980's)

-Old homestead/farmstead with house built in 1903

-Two barns, including one that is the largest in the state.

- The site also has an unusual cement plaque featuring the names of an early mayor and council members.

All of the buildings have been moved to the site with the exception of the sod house, which was built on site. I have found the relocated structures category and I think I will feature them there eventually, but I was wondering if there were any other categories that may be fitting. Any suggestions are appreciated. Please let me know which building(s) your suggestions apply to.

Thank you.

It would be helpful if you posted pics as well, but right off the bat these can go into multiple categories. And I'm sure with some further research, I can identify other categorial fits. But I would need the location (coordinates) of the buildings along with photos to do so.

- One-room schoolhouse, dated 1887

cornerstone.gifDated Buildings and Cornerstones OR DatedArchitecturalStructuresMultifarious.gifDated Architectural Structures Multifarious (it will depend on the type of marker. If it's anything but a bronze dedication plaque, submit it to Dated Buildings and Cornerstones).

former-school.gifFormer Schools (If the school is no longer in operation)

museum.gifHistory Museums (If the school has been converted to a museum)

-Sod-house (replica of original created in the 1980's)

-Old homestead/farmstead with house built in 1903

-Two barns, including one that is the largest in the state.

Hope this helps!

As an officer in the category, I can agree with this... Do a good write up for the description!

Also for the others "Signs of History" if they have a sign/plaque with information regarding the building.
