Can't login to Wherigo app

I just downloaded Wherigo for my iPhone to try out a Wherigo cache for the first time, and when I attempt to login via geocaching.com, nothing seems to happen. I get to a screen that says: "Complete Setup. Geocaching needs permission to share your account information with Wherigo." and there is a button that says "Agree". However clicking the button just seems to reload the page and never logs me into the app.

I have the exact same problem, not sure if it is coincidence with my iphone 13 having a software update

Tried multiple times over the weekend, I managed to download the cache into the Wherigo web page but then couldn't get into the App to start the game

If I look at the URL that's generated, it looks like it has the query string "state=&error=invalid_request&error_description=Code+challenge+required+to+enforce+PKCE+validation". I don't know what exactly "Code challenge required to enforce PKCE validation" means, but it's obviously some kind of auth error, and maybe someone else will know.

That's what I recently had to fix with Kit and the Wherigo Foundation site.  PKCE (proof key code exchange) is a way to make it more difficult for someone to intercept your login.  The app will have to send something in addition to what it usually sends, then validate against it.  It seems Groundspeak sent information out to all API developers about a year ago for this.  I didn't "get the memo", so to speak, because I had changed my email address and never alerted someone at Groundspeak.

 

@spstanley, are you still handling the iOS player app?  PKCE is covered in the API documentation.

I believe the current iOS Wherigo app was built by @MrCachly, and sold (?) to Groundspeak. (It’s listed in the App Store by Groundspeak, Inc.) Not sure which of them is responsible for maintenance.

it has been far more than a week. i have been logged out for several weeks. swaping emails with tech support saying nothing helpful and passing the buck. i have tried everything including completely resetting my phone (iphone). i have deleted and reinstalled the app most days for the past week without luck. i tried changing and deleting additional browsers i had installed on the telephone. i am at a loss and getting ready to travel with out my WIG machine :(

Having the same problem..
and has been referred to this thread by Geocaching HQ

It seems that this company runs mostly on a voluntary basis.
since you are just referring to this forum instead of solving the problem

Wherigo.com itself has always been unstable
