Hi Folks,

We were really hoping to be at the HCC event but I'm afraid we won't be there now. For the last 4 weeks Boysie has had trouble standing. Some days he is OK but others he is terrible. 2 days ago he came of the anti-inflamitories that the vet gave him and (though he was Ok last night), this morning he is in a really bad way. icon_frown.gif

So we won't be there today but wish it every success and look forward to seeing the photos.

Chris

Hi C&M,

Sorry to hear that your muttley ain't too well at the moment. It was a pity that you couldn't make it... would have been good to see you again.

Anyway, next time maybe.

Hope Boysie gets better soon.

I'm afraid not icon_frown.gif

Yesterday he seemed OK in the morning so Maria took him out for a short walk and he seemed OK all afternoon. By the evening he was completly unable to stand unaided, and can't even manage to step down a single step without his back legs collapsing. icon_frown.gif

The vets don't have a clue and are refering him to the Royal College of Vetinarians (I think tha's how you spell it - it certainly wasn't Vegitarians!)

Looks like we have only had him a few months and then broken him icon_frown.gif

icon_biggrin.gif Woof!Woof!

Boysie says thanks.

And to all you dog owners (and humans), it would appear that glucosamine is the thing that has done the trick (along with some doggy hydrotherapy - v cute).

I know what I will be taking when my joints start seizing up.....

Not *those* kind of joints, John.....

It is a mix with chondroitin, - the product name is Cosequin.

Apparently he is pre - arthritic(from x-rays!), but it certainly seems to be working! As vodka won't work I suppose I'll have to drink that! icon_biggrin.gif

The hydrotherapy is in a small pool, where he is kitted out with a doggy swimsuit ,floats, and a pillow to keep his ears dry. Unfortunately he is a paddler , not swimmer, by nature, so doesn't like it. We all get very wet when he is in there. icon_frown.gif

Hhmm, not sure. If you mean the tablets, you could ask the vets. As for the hydrotherapy - probably, as long as ther isn't a spine problem. We checked with our vet before taking him.

Is your cat having problems?

Great to hear Boysie is feeling better, We have been thinking of him, We had a cocker spaniel “Sophie” who suffered from arthritis in her later years, she lived on to the great age of 13.

Millie gave her a new lease of life during her last year (as well as the medication)

DJH and of course Millie
