+Chris n Maria
Thanks to some brilliant programming by Teasel and some long dull evenings drawing image maps by yours truely, the london caching tube map is now self-updating! It has also moved to GC:UK and can be found atthis page. Please try it out and let us have any feedback. Personaly I would like to say a big thanks to Ian for helping me get rid of the rod I had created for my own back Cheers Chris If only life had an undo button.... +Pharisee
Nice tube map... very usefull but not a single cache on it John And should you ask, am I at ease there? I'd answer "Yes. Oh yes indeed". For my heart it dwells in lonely places, where springs leap down, where ravens feed. Quote Link to comment

Thanks - you've found one station that is missing from the DB - click on watford and you should see some results. Teasel is currently working on some magic that will make icons show if there is a cache near to the station. Chris If only life had an undo button.... London & UK Geocaching Resources: http://www.sheps.clara.net Depending on the station you get a list of near by caches, seems only thoose stations intoward the centre of london have caches close by. Now if they would put the underground here in North Wales, it would make liife a lot easier when caching for me! Dave I burn to cache! Quote Link to comment
+Teasel
quote:Originally posted by SlytherinAlex:Sorta like it Chris, but it doesn't have the caches showing visually on the map any more. OK, more long dull evenings for Chris inputting the map coordinates of 300-odd stations, and more headscratching for me working out how to put icons on a map with no scale, and we've got the cache icons back on again! Once the Metropolian line is extended out to Bangor, we'll add those stations too! GeocacheUK - resources for the UK Geocaching community. Quote Link to comment
+Chris n Maria
What Teasel neglected to say is that the new page can be found here - which is a slightly different location to the one at the top of the page. Now all people have to do is find the easter egg... Cheers Chris If only life had an undo button.... London & UK Geocaching Resources: http://www.sheps.clara.net Quote Link to comment
+washboy
Seriously impressive! Well done and many thanks, you guys Love the hover-hints (or whatever you call the way the cache name appears if you hold the pointer over a cache icon). <Wanders off, whistling "Maybe it's because I'm a Londoner"> ===== There's no such thing as a free lunchbox! +minstrelcat
Do I get a prize for spotting the station without a hyperlink? Its not one of the stations on the DLR extention that is under construction. Lisa Visit minstrelcat's litter tray! Quote Link to comment

+Seasider
Great stuff! I've kicked off a Greater Manchester Passenger Transport Executive series which has a similiar integrated network map to the Tube - although about 200 less stations! When there are sufficient caches in Manchester will we be able to do the same? Cheers! Seasider We are not retreating - we are advancing in another Direction! Quote Link to comment

If Teasel can provide the technology you will need a list of all the stations and their coordinates. Then you will need a fair bit of spare time to build up the image map. But it should be possible. +Seasider
Thanks for info, Chris. I'd obviously give GUK a donation if they were able to provide the technology!! It's a bit off yet though as we Northerners need to lay a few more in the area - but the GMPTE network is a good 'un (trams every 6 mins) so it would be nice if cachers could forget the car for a day and utilise a junior version of your tube/rail network! Cheers! Seasider We are not retreating - we are advancing in another Direction! Quote Link to comment

+TheCat
Seasider if Teasel can provide the technology and I am sure he can. (I dont know on the time scale as he is very busy at the moment). I am prepared to provide the hosting and bandwidth for it at no charge. We have plenty of capacity spare and I dont feel it will use much of either. +NattyBooshka
Nice to see a new addition to the services of G:UK. Looked at the tube map and it's pretty good, with the improvements hinted at here it will be excellent. It won't be much use to us as we never go to London, but looks great for those who do. I guess this is as good a time as any to thank all those who've put work into G:UK and its resources... a wonderful service to us all... thanks guys! Cheers, Emily & Neil Quote Link to comment
+John Stead
I would echo Emily and Neil's thanks to Ian and Mark especially as we are going to London at the end of the month. My wife thinks we are going to an exhibition and shopping but I have other ideas and the tube map is highly relevant to them. As for the GMPTE map I did three of Seasiders caches in the area yesterday and none was very near a metro route - then I logged on at home and saw his new series. Good stuff John! The GMPTE network also integrates the buses so it is possible to get to those caches you did if a little awkward!! Cheers! John We are not retreating - we are advancing in another Direction!
