+myrthman Posted February 21, 2024 Posted February 21, 2024 I've read thru the challenge cache guidelines and I'm not sure if my idea would be acceptable. Can I ask that someone "avenge" a DNF __ times? It would require DNF and Found It! logs on the same cache with some period of time between them, say 24 hours. I realize that requiring a DNF is a negative, but avenging one is positive. What do you think? 1 Quote

In any case, people would just log fake DNFs in advance of whatever caches they wanted to use as qualifiers. 5 1 Quote
+scimgeo Posted February 22, 2024 Posted February 22, 2024 You could maybe stipulate that the DNF needs to be before the date of the challenge publication? Quote
+Hügh Posted February 22, 2024 Posted February 22, 2024 The slightly more technical answer is: you have to be able to offer a Project-GC challenge checker for your challenge, and the checker scripting system does not provide data on DNF logs. 1 Quote
+MartyBartfast Posted February 22, 2024 Posted February 22, 2024 It would also be too easy to game the challenge: I'm gonna go caching tomorrow so I just log a DNF on one of those caches today without even leaving home, then when I find it tomorrow I qualify for your challenge, meanwhile the Caches health score took a hit. 1 Quote
+GerandKat Posted February 22, 2024 Posted February 22, 2024 Sorry this is clear NO, it's not possible: The guidelines states: and So a DNF as a requirement is a nogo. 1 Quote

Besides DNF logs not being allowed as part of a challenge cache's requirement, this would be an unacceptable date restriction. Challenge caches should be available for anyone to find, provided they meet the requirements. A person who discovers the sport for the first time and signs up for a geocaching account on the day after this challenge cache is published could not, by definition, log a legitimate DNF log on a date prior to challenge publication. 1 1 Quote
