I have been catching trains, light rail and a bus. Train to Sydney, and then using the good system here. Anyway, almost cleaned out the lasted crop of SideTracked caches in Sydney - only Cowan and Macarthur left.

I hope you feel better soon. (As I type this, I've noticed somehow my neck is sore...I dont think its a sore throat, but a sore neck....hmm. Weird. I havent been sleeping well recently, but I dont think I'm sick)

I'll make an edit here later if I think of anything...but this is basically the jist of my goals.

 

So, in looking back, I did pretty well here.

 

- I found that 5/5 mystery cache, and *most* of the puzzle caches I had on mind. I'm going to try to snag the others I'm thinking of by next year....they're not far, but I'm pretty busy right now.

 

- I managed to host 5 events this year, 3 CITO's and two regular events. One of those regular events was a T5

 

- I didn't end up achieving this goal at all, other than finding one Wherigo thanks to some group caching.

 

- I've been more liberal with archiving caches this year, and I have intentions for future archiving activities in the future, for areas I don't go to anymore nor will in the future.

Not sure that I ever put it in writing (which somehow makes things more official) but I wanted to host at least one event per month and I accomplished that. I will have 14 for the year including a CITO and an event in Spain (I live in USA).  It has been a good year.

Ouch - I didn't do so well.  Then again, I haven't been out geocaching as much except when we travel.  Only 217 finds to date this year.  At least both my husband and I still do enjoy the hobby together.  I did publish my Virtual 4.0 award in March 2024, and I have a Community Celebration event to host in 2025, planned for a winery in NY that I travel to each summer.  It's time to regroup, re-evaluate, make plans and set goals for 2025!  Cache on, friends!

You did put it in writing: (I came across this as I was trying to find MY goals for 2024!)

Sorry, but I had to chuckle when I saw this. My find count this year is currently 187 and my "best" year ever is 2023 with 219. I don't count ALs in my finds but I've only done four of those this year anyway.

It's all relative, Jeff!  Here's my yearly totals since we started in 2017 - only one year has been less than this year's 217.  Yes, we have a lot more caches to choose from here in the US, and California where I live.  It all comes down to time and priorities for us.

I'm within 200 or 11,000 but that milestone will be next year.

 

I added 5 countries, 3 on my first cruise - Mexico, Honduras, Belize, and Spain and Gibralter during a granddaughter visit to Spain 

 

I finished all the counties in Pennsylvania

 

And at least 1 event each month.  

 

Whoopee!!

 

Now I must think about 2025.

Finally finished completing my 2024 caching goals...

Hit 1000 finds, completed alphanumeric cache name challenge, found caches in 7 (soon to be 8) countries, and today finished my fizzy grid and hit 2000 finds

2025 might be filling my calendar....

Accomplishment for 2024?  My least smiley count ever in 15 years   And almost half those smileys are events, and just over 12 of those are essential monthly FTF qualifiers (gotta keep up that stat!)

Life, wife, child, home, finance, product launch - this year I just got bit by the "I'm not a single guy any more" thing, lol

Forgot to post my goals earlier this year, but I'm pretty sure this is what I would have posted:

• Fill some squares in my Virtual D/T grid.

Success: 5 combinations found, went from 27 to 22 remaining. This will take a few years to complete!

• Fill some squares in my Earthcache D/T grid.

Success: 6 combinations found, went from 14 to 8 remaining. This one's tough too, but the end is in sight.

• Find my 1000th Large cache.

Unsuccessful, 81 caches remaining. Found 82 Large caches this year, so it should be doable in 2025!

• Visit my 50th country.

Success: visited Monaco, Hong Kong, China, Taiwan, Macao, Gibraltar, Morocco and San Marino, with San Marino being my 50th country!

I was only able to get 43 new Texas counties, and I didn't cache in a new country this year. But I did get two new states (Montana and Wyoming), and I hosted an event and a CITO, so I've got that going for me.

Here are the status results from my goals for 2024 as posted on 2024-01-06:

• Try to find caches by more unique reviewers for a series of challenges in my area ( GC45FTJ , GC4Z9ZM , GC4ZA0N ) : RESULT: No new reviewers found in 2024
• Get a passport in order to be able to visit other countries, to help with the above reviewer challenges and country souvenirs : RESULT: Passport obtained
• Create an Adventure Lab somewhere nearby using a AL creation credit I have had for a long time : RESULT: Adventure Lab created
• Find some way to borrow/rent/buy a kayak that would be appropriate to reach some kayak-needed T5 caches in my area, and get the nerve to try it : RESULT: Rented kayak, but the rental place did not want me to go as far as the cache with their boat, so I just explored the area
• Complete solving some of the harder mystery caches in my general area for the thrill and fun of figuring them out, and in general keep trying to solve new ones as they are published : RESULT: Solved the majority of the existing mystery caches I had on my list to solve, and some of the new ones published in 2024
• Host some events in order to help local cachers who have already found everything nearby to more easily get new upcoming souvenirs : RESULT: Did not host any events in 2024

So most of the goals had good progress, some did not quite make it, but the main ones I was hoping to get done were achieved satisfactorily.

 

Thank you for having made this 2024 Geocaching Goals thread and suggested this!  I will consider making some goals for 2025.

Well its time to review…

 

1) Found caches in Switzerland, Liechtenstein, Italy and Vatican City this summer - all new!

2) Fell short here - was anticipating a large cross country road trip when I moved this summer but we ended up selling a vehicle and flying instead. I ended the year at 1106.

3) Success!
