Map on laptop won't show up

Problem only started today. Anyone else having this problem with the normal browse map?

The f12 key I believe, or right click the page and click inspect. Once the inspect tab opens, there will be a tab labeled "console". Selecting that will display any messages being returned by the page. If there's an error, it will show up in red.

Sounds like you might still be in the inspector tab. When you inspect the page, the inspector tab will open by default, but you can select additional tabs from within the new window that opens, including "debugger", "network", "performance", etc. The second tab is usually "console". This tab will display any warnings and errors associated with the page. For example, when I use f12 and switch to the console tab, I have four warnings. The first is: "The script from blah blah blah.com was loaded even though its MIME type (“”) is not a valid JavaScript MIME type". What you do next depends on the error, but it could be that GS is doing maintenance on the page that causes temporary outages. Earlier, I noticed that the text "testing" was being printed to the console, meaning that someone was editing the browse map code earlier today. The easiest solution is probably just to wait unless the error indicates an issue with your browser.

Here in Görlitz / Germany, too, only the empty map as in post #2 is displayed. I have tried it on different laptops / PCs with different browsers, but no success.
I am very dissatisfied with the other view, only a small section is displayed, you have to refresh the map when you move it - that's annoying.

 

And I don't want to study computer science for troubleshooting - Groundspeak should provide a solution.

Exactly. That is not the map to use when planning long trips over great distances; in my case thousands of kms. I need a large overview to pick the route; to see what routes have the caches.

I also don't think that disabled caches are shown; another frustration, when looking for a cache you know is there somewhere.

Same issue for me. Across Firefox, Chrome, and Edge. Looking at Console in Firefox I see

Uncaught ReferenceError: google is not defined

I have found a solution for me: in Firefox delete all cookies and website data, then log in again and allow all cookies, now the old view is there again
So some cookie is the killjoy and is responsible for this error.

I had the same problem, but seems to have solves it a different way. I don't like cookies, so I am not going to allow them. But it seemed to be a google problem, so I looked at my map preferences. When I changed it to Leaflet in stead of Google Maps I can see everything again.

Thank you, thank you, thank you!  From the bottom of my heart!  I didn't manage to figure this out by myself, and I really don't have to resort to the "new and improved" map, because it is so much worse!

BTW, there's really excellent satellite imagery on the "Leaflet" side.  Near the bottom of the list, Esri.  Blows the pants off Google's offering.

 

(Will Grounspeak ever fix the almost-everything that's wrong with that Google/Leaflet chooser?)

Yep. I just wish the selection would stick and I'd not always return to the (rather rubbish, e.g. lacking detail) geocaching OSM map.

I just wanted to report I have the same issue, on different browsers, computers, after clearing cache/cookies/... none of these tricks work.

Switching to Leaflet does help.

 

Error is the same as reported above in the console:

Uncaught ReferenceError: google is not defined

Any updates for this? I'm having same problem with Firefox. Just a blank screen. However, MS Edge works fine.

No errors in the console, just few warnings:

 

-This page uses the non standard property “zoom”. Consider using calc() in the relevant property values, or using “transform” along with “transform-origin: 0 0”. search
