Excel Geometry Functions

On National Marine Mammal Laboratory web page is downloadable Excel Add-in file GEOFUNC.XLA. You can download it here. There are also code for each function with comments that describe what the function does and the assumed input and output measurement units.

Jeff Laake has written to this file various EXCEL functions that perform trigonometric calculations for plane and spherical geometry and a number of other related calculations. Functions are useful also in Geocaching. You can use them to find some caches that need mathematical homework.

Useful functions are e.g. Bearing, NewPostLat, NewPostLon, Posdist and unit conversions. Distance is in nautical miles but you can convert it to kilometers by multiplying by 1.852.

Kiinnostavia funktioita.

Testasin ja totesin seuraavaa:

Määrittelin lähtöpisteen DD MM.MMM, konvertoin sen DD.DDDD

Otin etäisyyden esim. suuntaan 40, matka 10 NM

Laskin uuden pisteen muotoon DD MM.MMM

EDIT: No olihan tätä siellä sivustollakin selitetty.
