Premium membership - do you only have to pay ONCE to get Premium access on website AND app?

If a Basic account upgrades to Premium by paying through the website, does the app know this and give premium access within the app?  Or do you have to also pay a second time within the app for Premium as an in-app purchase?

 

Likewise, if a Basic account pays for Premium access via in-app purchase, does the website know this and give access to premium caches on the website?  Or will the website not show premium caches because you paid via in-app purchase?

 

Just trying to figure out whether if one way is better than the other or whether it doesn't matter which way it's done.

The Premium Membership is paid for your account, no matter what device you use!

Be advised, you  will likely need to log out of the app on the phone and on the webiste, then log back in before your Premium membership is reflected in both the app and the website.

This should not be necessary, regardless of whether you have upgraded on Geocaching.com or your phone's app store. Your membership status should automatically refresh to make it as easy as possible to access every cache right away after upgrading!

Yeah, there's a certain irony that Groundspeak's Geocaching app botches the caching of data, and continues to use stale data long after the data has been changed on the website...
