How can I retrieve a travel tag virtually which I dropped in error?

Hi, hope someone can offer some advice please. 

I had two travel bugs and left one in a cache yesterday and one today.

Unfortunately, I logged the wrong one in the yesterday's cache. I went back and added the correct one. However, I can't pick up the wrong one to move it to the cache where it physically is now as I don't have the tracking number which is on it. What is the best thing to do? Is there a way to virtually move it or should I just write a note for the cache where it physically is to say it is there but I can't log it on the website as being there?

Did you go back to the cache where you left the first one?

 

If so, and it had already been picked up, then hopefully the next cacher along will fix this by grabbing it, using the tracking code.

 

It still would not hurt to drop a note to the trackable owner to let them know what happened.

 

(I've done this more than once, so you are far from alone - this is why the "grab" function exists.)
