Adventure Lab Distance Length

I have been give the opportunity to reuse a "soon to be archived" geotrail and turn it into two adventure labs (with an additional virtual cache). Each stop on the existing trail has extensive historical research tied to it, with QR code web pages already created. The pieces are there to make two great adventure labs and a virtual cache. The problem is the first adventure lab would be roughly 15 miles to complete, and the second adventure lab would also be roughly 15 miles to complete. Any helpful input would greatly be appreciated.

THANKS!

There's no distance limit on ALs, but if it's going to be anything more than a short stroll you should probably mention that in the description (not that anyone will read it!). One of mine is 10km end to end, intended as a hike along the coastal Five Lands Walk although everyone who's done it has just driven to each of the locations, and I've done several that have taken the best part of a day's driving and one that involved a 70km train trip.

The AL I created was part of a series along the Lincoln Highway (US) and that series was granted 10 staged per AL instead of the usual 5. The area I selected is a few miles long from stage 1 to Stage 10 with a bonus in between. I stretched the stages out the to cover the length, including some historical spots close by. I am not sure of total length but several miles. other cachers in the series covering a long section placed the AL stages very close together.

I would not make the stages too far apart or the entire length real great, what you propose would be okay . But it depends on the terrain, etc.

19 miles, according to the description.

Wouldn’t it be useful to know at the start of an ALC how many kilometers/Miles you are going to leave for? Think of the elderly, families with children, the disabled, people with dogs, ...

Yes, sure, but doesn't the same applies for many other cache also?  It would be nice to know for Multi-Mystery, Multi-Cache, Letterbox Hybrid, or Wherigo Cache also.  I think it is up to the COs to mention this in the description.

For AL at least you can see the 5 stages and can guess the distance.

That's not the map I see when I open the app, instead I get something like this:

Doing that circuit of the waypoints could be a few hundred metres or 10km, who can tell, at least not without finding the locality on another map somewhere that does have a scale. I don't think it's reasonable to expect everyone to use a third party site just to see how far apart an AL's locations are.

Multi-Cache

I have a couple that are a few kms each, and I say how many kms walk. I find it inconsiderate when other COs don't.

With my multis, I try to strike a balance between giving potential finders a good idea of what they're likely to be in for without giving so much away as to spoil the adventure. My most recent two multis have the <1km attribute so there's not far to walk, but with the terrain ratings of 3 and 3.5, plus the latter having the Difficult Climb attribute, they're not just a walk along a trail either. I also make good use of the less than an hour/more than an hour attributes so if neither is set you can expect it to take pretty close to an hour. My longest hiking one is the currently disabled GC6XHHJ which has the >10km and Significant Hike attributes set as well as saying in the description that it's about 6km each way. There's not much elevation change in that one, it's mostly just distance.

Unfortunately ALs don't have any of those useful ratings or attributes and the amount of text you can put in the description is pretty limited.

Thanks for your constructive responses.
Especially for multi caches it would also be very useful to know what distance you can expect.
This is also the reason why I usually ignore them. So we depend on the goodwill of the CO's.
Wish you all lots of geocache fun 😉
