Geocaching Poles

As there are alot of caches these days involving "Tree fishing", does anyone have any names of poles or types that I could use for these caches?

Before we moved, I had a fruit-picking tool on an extension pole that worked great for elevated caches that were intended to be retrieved with a tool.

Anything in this class of pole would suffice. Painter's poles are usually a go-to. 12' plus, and usually a lengthier TOTT (even when retracted) to keep in the mobile :P

They need to be sturdy because at length they can really start to bend.  And people usually put a twisted coat hanger on the end, if not other accessories that make good hooks - both for picking up, replacing, and holding (transporting up and down)

Similar to Hugh, we have a few extendable poles around the house with a threaded end for squeegee and light bulb changer attachments.

But we've yet to see a cache able to be grabbed by one.

All we've found were attached, meant for the cacher to climb to retrieve the log to sign.

Many ended up broken by people thinking they were able to just pluck them off...

As baer2006 said, it depends on the area. We see things like this:

Yes, I climbed for this one - mainly because I am very light - but the intended method is to take a hook (usually a bent paint roller or piece of wire) and to stick it on the end of a pole.

There's a power trail near here of caches like this, however those are more... low budget. I think they used coathangers to hook onto a branch.

Maybe caches could be designed in a "light bulb" shape to be unscrewed from a base for retrieval, and screwed back in place afterward.  I'll consider that if I ever need to place a cache high up.  I guess by design it would be a Micro.
