shabbasuraj
Hey check this out... I tried it and it works great... Simply follow the instructions for a personalized startup message for select Garmin units... a great way to put a "REWARD if found" message at the startup screens... http://www.milvang.no/gps/gpswarn.html please share your thoughts about the software here.... +StAlbert4
Wow! Thanks for bringing this to our attention. What a great way to personalize one's GPS. "Everybody gets so much information all day long that they lose their common sense." (Gertrude Stein) Quote Link to comment

Cache Canucks
Garmin's latest firmware release for the Vista (v2.40) incorporates a user defined 'Owner's Page': View this forum... Quote Link to comment
shabbasuraj
Ye the personalization is really nice, but too bad it is not password protected, but then again some might not care. Altering firmware is still a little more permanent. I have always wished users had an option to password protect the entire unit. That would certainly thwart many who did not know much about GPSr's. Or just not allow others access to any sensitive info saved on the unit... ...this way your wife can't find out your tracks you saved on the golfing green, when you originally told her you were volunteering at the orphanage all weekend long.... hhaahahahahhaaaaaaaaa.... I dunno... perhaps this may be useful... lates... Quote Link to comment

+Baston
Has anyone tried it with an eMap? Nevermind, I just read the FAQ. It will not work on the eMap. Baston [This message was edited by Baston on October 24, 2002 at 11:19 AM.] Quote Link to comment
+Solar Max
Sigh, it does work on a Legend, ver 2.41, but NOT my Legend with ver 2.50. I guess I should have done the startup screen, then updated the software. It does state, however, to do the upgrade first. Any Legend owners, go with 2.41, do the screen , then upgrade, and hope that doesn't wipe out your new startup. If I ain't sweatin', I ain't cachin. Are we there yet? Quote Link to comment
Curious George
Worked fine on my Venture - hey Mariner, glad to hear you're back in business. Quote Link to comment

To enter owner data, select “Owner Information” option from the main menu page’s option menu. This would seem to supercede the need for the GpsWarn program. Tony Quote Link to comment
shabbasuraj
only diff is that these type of programs cannot be easily altered by casual obseervers, as these programs alter the firmware, and are not just "settings"... thus providing a method of personalization that is somewhat more permanent.... aside from that they are the same... lates...
