An ammo can costs ~$30 new, which is valuable enough to steal, but not valuable enough to go on a strenuous hike to steal. 1 Quote
+cerberus1 Posted May 13, 2024 Posted May 13, 2024 We've bought ammo cans on Government auctions. By the pallet bulk, shared costs with other cachers. Our last came out to four bucks each for 50cals. We didn't even have to spray over the former contents (tan paint). A few years ago we bought 30cals for three bucks each (bulk, on pallet, and shared with others.). You want quality containers and not pay thirty bucks each for them, chip in with others on a government auction. - You'll need someone with a truck or large van. Quote
+barefootjeff Posted Thursday at 03:52 AM Posted Thursday at 03:52 AM I mentioned earlier in this thread the success I've had with Duratech ABS instrument cases in damp locations. One of those, GC92WV1, is placed next to the base of this waterfall in an environment that's constantly damp from spray off the falls. In recent months, heavy rain has flooded the creek and looks to have fully submerged my cache, but checking it today showed everything in excellent condition with the container's interior and logbook bone dry. 1 1 Quote
