My granddaughter has just signed up as a basic member and was out with me. So question is why do some basic caches show up as premium, when I now they are not.

 

Next question which is sort of the same but the other day I had a message about my https://coord.info/GC507BT they said that is was a premium cache as they could not bring up the details as they were only basic members. I replied saying it was not premium, so today had a look on Jen010 new basic account and sure enough it shows up but she can not access it, (shows as premium) does any one know what's going on with these apps?

Your question highlights the distinction between "Premium Member Only" caches (which must be designated as such by the Cache Owner) and "Advanced Caches" that are not visible on the official Geocaching apps for Basic Members.  "Advanced Caches" include every type other than Traditionals and Events, and also any cache with a Difficulty or Terrain Rating greater than two stars.
