Just in case there's someone else out there using this combination, I received the following info from FUGAWI about which map projection to use when calibrating the Toporama GIFs in FUGAWI

Thanks PDOP's. I've never had occasion to download Toporama maps but I will certainly have a look at them soon. I see their service is unavailable until end of February.

What kind of scale and detail to they offer?

Cheers, Olar

Hi Olar

Actually they're still there but just making themselves hard to get to (does this sound like the government icon_rolleyes.gif )

Ust this URL

The toporama maps are derived from the same data as regular topomaps but have less detail. Some other features like elevations of the contour lines are also missing but the price is right. icon_wink.gif

The existing website is not to intuitive when it comes to downloading the maps. Once you've located the map sheet you're interested in right click on the images and select save as.

There are other threads about Toporama if you're inertested in learning more

The 1:50,000 maps are here: http://toporama.cits.rncan.gc.ca/images/b50k/ and the 1:250,000 maps are here: http://toporama.cits.rncan.gc.ca/images/b250k/.

I've downloaded all the maps (>2GB worth) and I am working (very slowly) on my own webinterface for them.
