Guest Zaph
I'm about to trek up to Yackandandah to visit my Dad for Xmas - so my plan is to stop in on at least one of the caches in Victoria on the way - and I might even create my own one on Xmas day (thats when I'm driving up there) Anyone else planning on visiting caches over the Xmas/NewYear break ? Guest wolfey
When I get a GPS I will be out caching in the new year. I have plenty of time before uni starts so I should be able to visit a few around Melbourne. Quote Link to comment
Guest scott
We visited friends in Melb. for the holidays. We had enough time for one cache so I could introduce them to the game. Went to the Devil Bend cache and pretty much raided it. (My wife said the tomato soup is better in Australia.) Hell, everything was better in Australia, but thats a whole 'nother story. scott Quote Link to comment
Guest Zaph
Well, we *almost* found one of the caches last week Seems I copied down the wrong GPS location (it was for a cache with 2 locations, one to park at and the other for the cache itself... I copied the carpark one we found the parking spot though, if that counts for anything... We'll be back out there in a couple of weeks, and will double up and do 2 in a day... Lesson learnt: Print out the Geocache page and take the printout with you, in case you misread it the first time !! Guest wolfey
If you are talking about "melbourne's 1st" the carpark waypoint IS the stash waypoint. The other waypoint is the turn off from the main road. Unless you parked at the turn off (T-intersection)? What I did when I went to this cache is navigated to the 'carpark' waypoint and then started to walking to the other waypoint. About half way to that waypoint I realized that I was going back to the turn off. So I returned to where I parked the car and found it. Just to confirm: S 37° 15.313 E 145° 10.02 (WGS-84) is the cache waypoint. Quote Link to comment
Guest Zaph
yeah, I only had the first one written down - re-reading the page (again) I now get it... I thought the 'navigate to' was the actual cache, and wrote that down, then got all confused when I got back... sigh... I'll get it right next time (I want those CD-R's Zaph ------------------ -- Kevin 'Zaph' Burfitt http://www.torps.com Quote Link to comment
