Hey, congrats to TPS. Just be sure to put that cover sheet on your TPS reports.

They probably didn't get the memo. /Lefty

Yeah, I just stare at my desk, but it looks like I'm working….I'd say in a given week I probably only do about fifteen minutes of real, actual, work - the rest is caching. – Peter Gibbons

When they reach 1,000 we should give them an engraved red Swingline stapler. ;)

Rumor has it there could be ND&BB coins in a couple of caches placed today.

I think everyone is chasing after "Jazz" tokens today, hmmmm... maybe I should take advantage of the distraction and look for yours....

I passed up a $40 REI gift card in a cache out there... might be worth a trip for someone.

(kind of like a treasure hunt out there)

If anyone else is going to run out for that card. Don't do it!!!! It's in an area not open to the public and the ranger is pretty serious about citing anyone out there.

There's a new M&J cache?

Yes, but my search attempt on the way to work this morning was a Wash, as the gate was open and a truck with workers was in there so I decided it might not be the best time for a search there... Also fanned on the cache that migrated from Davis as there were curious neighbors watching me. Ill try both again on the way home.

Probably the safest time to find Bad Badtz Maru is when the Vue is in the driveway. That way you can come up and say hi and it will look all innocent and stuff. ;)

Ask Dr. Dolittle about how agressive the neighbors can be. He and the Mrs. tried to hide a cache in our yard once and got run off the block by some rather menacing neighbors. I suppose I should tell Frank across the street about the cache. His is the only one that has a super clear view of the goings on in our front yard.

By the way, the informal travelbug swap 'unevent' is still on this Sunday at 7:00pm at the Highway 84 Travelbug Hotel. This hotel is inside a pizza parlor, for those that haven't been there. We'll meet up with Olaf - TravelingViking (550k TBmiles) - and swap bugs and stories and eat some pizza. JoeSpaz will even be there (running his scrabble night, like he does every Sunday evening). Even if you don't have any bugs to swap, feel free to pop in for some pizza and conversation.

If you can't make it, but have a bug that might want to hop the Atlantic, just drop the bug off at Bad Badtz-Maru's Secret Hideout and we will hand them off to Olaf. You can also hand us bugs at the Fimo event this Saturday evening if that is more convenient for you.

But just THINK of all the "flair" they've collected. Way more than 37 pieces. /Lefty

"geo-flair", I love it. Got a whole binder of it. ;) Now all I need is some suspenders to put some of it on.

Run - do not walk - to the video store and rent the movie "Office Space".  Now.  Your other meetings for the day are hereby cancelled.

Ahhh... thanks for the insight! ;)

It's on my official 'list of things to do when I am not caching'. :P

Hmmm... I don't think there is a cache near the Almaden BlockBuster... :D

Sorry for 3 posts in a row - but if you haven't looked at the description of the product on Amazon, you should.  Hilarious!

Red Swingline Stapler at Amazon.com

LOL! Too funny, and I haven't even seen the movie! I see a reference to "TPS reports" in one of the customer reviews. I'm going to have to see this movie! Thanks! :D

...and I used to be over by the window, and I could see the squirrels, and they were married, but then, they switched from the Swingline to the Boston stapler, but I kept my Swingline stapler because it didn't bind up as much, and I kept the staples for the Swingline stapler and it's not okay because if they take my stapler then I'll set the building on fire...

FINALLY!!! My GPSr has been out of commission since NOVEMBER and I finally got it back from Magellan repair today. Due to holiday travelling, a lot of back and forth 'did you try this?' emails with magellan support, and it being lost in the mail for almost a month I haven't gone caching in forever.

Since I'm already planning on going backcountry skiing in Tahoe this weekend, does anyone have any good winter cache suggestions for the Echo Lakes area (already found the one 'winter' cache there, but no others) or the Carson Pass area?

Don't know if it is accessible in Winter... but "Troop98" has some great views of Echo Lake.

I never use e-mail when I deal with any company as far as tech support, It's a lot easier and faster to just get on the phone, they all have 800 numbers.

Glad to see you're back in action! Had fun chatting with you and hubby at the event.

We have a cracked screen on our Garmin, not too bad, in the bottom corner. We haven't been able to bring ourselves to send it in for repairs yet! :)

I totally didn't see you at the BADGES event, but that's not surprizing given how many people were there. I think I got stuck in the wrong room. We did have the wide screen in our room though. You got married since the last event I saw you at? If so, congrats are in order.

Thanks guys. Magellan support is not the fastest, but they did rush it once they got the unit after it was lost in the mail for way too long.

Now I'm having fun with these new-fangled features on the website. I think I may go for the Troop98 one, depending on where we end up. On Saturday it will be me and hubby (yep, married) only, and sunday we're meeting some beginners to backcountry skiing so I don't know how far we'll make it out there. With this weather I want to get to the snow before it all melts out on me like it did last year! Too bad the stuff buries caches. :)

I was just up there last weekend (Carson City / South Lake).

Caches down low near Carson City are being found once a week; ones higher haven't been found since October. There's no snow at Carson; at lake level there's still quite a lot.

We had a really good time at this one - half done in springtime with butterflies and budding trees, and half done on several feet of snow:

Hey folks.  I am looking for ideas for a cache container that will fit in 3/4 PVC and is less than 2" tall.  Any ideas?

Thanks

CC

Like Team Nazgul said. Bison tube... In the South Bay I have seen them at REI and at Stevens Creek Surplus. Usually less than $3. Here are a couple of links that may also help:

http://www.bisondesigns.com/aluminum/keycaddies/capsule.htm

http://sissy-n-cr.com/store4.shtml

I have also seen a plastic pill container, very very similar to a Bison Tube, in Long's Drug Store that would also work.

Good Luck! :(

Bison tube?

If you are inclined to use eBay, try

LOT OF (12) PILL / ID HOLDER KEY RINGS $0.99 GEOCACHING

I bought some of these a while back for $5 and you can't beat that for 12 Bison tubes.

I looked and the shipping on those right now is set at $8.00, so if you make the $0.99 bid, it will cost you $8.99 for twelve. Still a good deal, especially when you consider that you get 24 possible caches. Down in Palm Springs, we ran across no less than three of the inner containers being used as caches.

Hey, hey! 2000 finds for Woof!

Hmm. I thought we only congratulated local cachers in this forum.

I guess I'll extend a provisional congratulation, assuming that we are graced with an actual visit sometime in the future....

And I wouldn't rest on those laurels if I were you. [:(]

Link to comment
Sorry Woof, it's not official until you are presented with a certified certificate.

Wow. And just $8 cheep... plus a couple more bucks for Shipping and Handling. Best of all, you get to give your credit card info to someone whom can then take you the rest of the way to the cleaners and they don't even need to know the coordinates. But wait. You could buy it now and add another two green backs to the deal.

Any bidders?? No. Why not? People that find a hundred caches are smarter than that.

Congradulations to Woof!!

cough cough

Congratulations Woof! on 2000! Hmmmm.... I better get out and get caching.....

Congrats on the 2K Woof! Now, where'd I put that pocket query...

Becky, Congrats on the 0.7K. Sorry we weren't home when you stopped by. Thanks for the Europe bound bugs.

A note to anyone that has tried "Berryessa Library Park" these last few days. I have DNF'd it twice, and have been writing the owner. She is taking everyone's logs very seriously and really wants to do the right thing on her first hide.

She is considering all options on what to do with the cache, and may post more information on the hide to make it easier (she did intend it as a 1/1, not evil). There is an FTF available to anyone that wants to try this one again. Coordinates have been rechecked and she has verified that it is there, even had a non-cacher go find it just to be sure. I know I was looking in nasty places that did not fit the difficulty level.

Glad to see a newbie trying that hard and being responsive. I'm sure she'll make it right.

Looks like new information has been posted but it is still vague... The coords if unchanged(don't know, I deleted it from my gps after two trips today) zero at the guys gate and he is a frequent user of it since I saw him out there at 6:30am and at 12:15pm today. I'll leave this one for someone else to find and then use a lifeline because that guy will be calling the cops on me if he sees me out there searching through his succulents again :(

Good deal, looks like we'll have a better hide to pursue soon:

Log Date: 3/11/2005

[};)] Checked the cache, coordinates were the same as posted, and it

is visible without going near fence and without touching anything, so we

added that info to the disabled log. But we're hearing it is the

unappetizing kind of evil, so we are leaving it disabled and are working on

moving it to a new location within the park, probably with a different

container. Hope to have that done by the end of Saturday afternoon,

depending on muggles.[}:(] Thank you WoW for your additional off log

mentoring!

Thanks to Marky and WoW for their lesson of identifying new caches in my area.

I am armed and ready with the Legend and Palm cabled into the PC ready to receive new coordinates.

I guess I could build a perl app to check the page for me and SMS a message to my mobile phone when there is a new cache. Then I will really be obsessed!
