+Miragee Posted June 6, 2006 Posted June 6, 2006 Okay . . . change of subject. It was too hot to do much out here today, so I've been mapping the WiFi spots in the county. I have a file of 52 locations. Would anyone be interested in the .gpx file? I can't guarantee its absolute accuracy, but it includes Panera bakeries, coffee shops, a bike shop, and several libraries. As for the pin . . . Passing Wind was selling them. Maybe he still has some. I have one on my hat . . . for the right price, I might part with it . . . Quote

You can either get one that I placed in this cache a few days ago; Stone Sentinel (GCHK6K), or take the more difficult approach of contacting me with your address and I'll mail you a few! Regarding WiFi Spots, a GPX file would be sweet! However, before you make that information public you might also want to score some credit for your research by placing them in the Waymarking.com Category - "WiFi HotSpots". Cheers, PassingWind Quote

Cheers, PassingWind That is actually how I got started on the project. Someone mentioned WiFi spots and Waymarking today in the "big forums," so I did a search at Waymarking and got no results for the San Diego area. Since Jeremy is the owner of that list, I don't think I want to submit anything without actually verifying that the hotspots exist, something I won't be able to do. My .gpx file was created by doing Internet searches and then creating a waypoint on my Mapsource maps based on the street address. If San Diego cachers can verify the existence of the HotSpots as they drove around their neighborhoods, that would be great. Quote

+Dr. Boggis Posted June 6, 2006 Posted June 6, 2006 (edited) I know this isn't the correct thread for paperless talk, but do any of you know how to get a Palm PDA to hot sync with Windows ME? I don't know why we got Windows ME...I guess it came with the new computer...don't ask...we don't have a clue. We can't do pocket queries because of AOL....can't get a gmail account because we don't have a cell phone. Have you ever met a couple so non-technical???? thanks, jl Hopefully you've got your Palm issues resolved by now.......on to your other gripes: AOL?! If you're on dial-up, you should try something else (PeoplePC was OK for us) for less money and a lot less intrusion into your browsing! If you can get DSL, SBC/Yahoo have some good deals, I've seen it as low as $14.99 a month. A call to your friendly phone operator should tell you if you can do it on your line (and it doesn't interrupt your voice phone calls). Cable internet is faster, but more expensive. I don't see why you not having a cellphone should stop you having a gmail account. Send me an email from your current email address so I can send you an invite. (This goes for anyone else who wants to have a gmail account!). I can't remember entering a cellphone number on the gmail setup stuff, it's probably so you can get your mail on your phone, so if you skip it that shouldn't be a problem. Otherwise just put in your home number. Edited June 6, 2006 by Dr. Boggis Quote

robertlipe Posted June 8, 2006 Posted June 8, 2006 Applications for GPSBabel groupies are available at the counter... Where will you be staying? It has been a while since our very-fun, marathon-adventures when DocDiTTo was here. I'm sure several people will be happy to guide you to the best of the best . . . We'll be in a house on the beach and not terribly far from GCG7JR, "The Green Flash". Thanx for the offer on the tour, but this really is a family vacation and not a power caching trip. While "best of the best" sounds like great fun, this trip will probably just be catching whatever we get while biking along the beach and anything that happens to be someplace we'd be stopping anyway. No puzzles, no multis, and low terrain stuff as the rest of my family is less mobile than myself and this is a family vacation. Since my last two caching trips to CA each resulted in a trip to the E.R., they're keeping me on a short leash. Quote
+TrailGators Posted June 8, 2006 Posted June 8, 2006 Hi, I just noticed that some one rated my bookmark list. I am shocked at what they wrote. They think all of the “Dak Girl” caches are lame…and can be done in flip-flops! ??????????????????????? Yeah . . . I just noticed that person put negative comments on a couple of my Bookmark lists also. Sheesh. The comments should have to be "signed." Why would someone do that? Don't feel so bad I got: "A basic ho-hum list that's not at all exciting" from a mystery jerk. But two others said they liked my list! Quote
