+SD Rowdies
Harmon, did you see what P.T. and I did today? Whoo Hoo!! What fun!!! Wow! good for you, you pulled it off. Welcome to the select few that have wiggled, scratched, and crawled into and out of that terrifying thicket of Chamise and Mountain Mahogany. That may be the toughest 130-feet of bushwhacking in the county. I love it, forty-five minutes to crawl 130-feet. The posted photo entitled "Bushwhacking at it's finest" tells the tale very nicely. I still wonder where they dumped the guy on the gurney while they placed that mean little cache. The list of finders is pretty short after all this time; Carpenter from Hell, Gecko Dad, Miragee, Princess Toadstool, and I. Carpenter isn't a premium member so he never logged the find but he sure as heck did the deed. Glad to serve as an advisor and I see that you took heed and wore protective clothing. Apparently no ill effects for either of you. Whew. Guess we best form a Snail-Rock club, print some t-shirts, and do a Geocoin. When's the reunion dinner for the Snail Rock Gang by the way? Congratulations! ... now I know for sure and certain that you two are nuts. Snappy dressers too by the way. O, and did you use any duct tape? If so then I'll have to add that item to the my "Perfect Ten" list. Dresses with duct tape ... guys love that don't y' know? Harmon Shoot, now ever'body is goin' t' be rushin' out there t' do that cache. Edited November 17, 2005 by SD Rowdies Quote Link to comment

+FlagMan
Interesting, you know when geocaching is cool when: We've got all of the fun you're looking for at Tenaya Lodge - even if it takes you a GPS to find it! It's called 'geocaching' and it takes on a whole new approach to 'hide-and-seek'. With our Winter Geocaching Package, you can search for hidden treasure in the national forest surrounding Tenaya Lodge. The package includes the use of a GPS, snowshoes for two, pack lunches and a treasure that's waiting to be discovered. Book Tenaya's Winter Geocaching Package, available January 1 to March 30, 2006. The package includes the use of a GPS, snowshoes for two, pack lunches and cache treasures. The package is offered midweek at $209/night, and weekends at $249/night, double occupancy. See you at latitude: 37 degrees, 28 minutes, longitude: 119 degrees, 38 minutes! The interesting thing the lodge is right next door to Yosemite National Park! BTW. I highly recommend this lodge, it's amazing! PassingWind I predict soon there will be GPS tours of every major city, similar to the tape recorded tours you can take. Maybe even incorporate a podcaching concept.... Quote Link to comment
+Tex&Capie
I actually just got "sponsored" for terracaching.com. I'm not sure what it's all about but it seems to be the caching site for those who only want extreme challenges. And it has more of a community policing system it seems. It does take several veiled jabs at GC.com on its front page, so that's a little off-putting. But I'm going to go after my 1st TerraCache after work tonight. I'll give it the benefit of the doubt, but it seems to have a small chip on its shoulder at the get-go. </my $0.02> --TT-- Even though we joined, I think we are going to pass on the Terracaching.com. They do not seem to be as friendly as the GC.com crowd. As TT mentioned, I am not too crazy about the jabs I have received. Quote Link to comment

And one of the "experienced" snail people can guide us from afar!!!! HA Here's an interesting tidbit of information about the FTF at Snail Rock Cache. I realized after having my heart attack that the first time I felt a warning shot was half-way toward that cache while crawling uphill through the thicket on my hands and knees. It was a very hot day and so I passed the moderate and momentary chest pain off as an over-exertion, not recognizing it for what it was. A long while later in the 104-degree Santa-Anna summer temperatures at Sandy Creek Ranch I was revisited by the same arm and chest sensations that made me realize that I was probably having a mild heart attack. It is a singular moment in one's life to realize that a heart attack is in progress. I don't know a word or phrase that can describe a moment like that. Carpenter from Hell and I were quite a pair that day, he being a recovered cancer victim and I experiencing the first sign of an impending heart attack. In one way we were the right two FTF Geocachers to visit that cache considering the condition of the guy that it was placed to honor. +Miragee
Is anybody up for a challenge? P.T., Duncan!, lostguy51, and I planned a trip to Lawson 4 a few weeks ago, but bad weather stopped that attempt. The 29th or 30th of this month, or 6th or 7th of December, would be good days for the attempt . . . weather permitting. Sure would be fun to do it with a group. There are four other caches on the trail, plus a couple of others nearby, so if you haven't been out here before, it would be at least a "seven-smilie-day." ;) :D Any takers? Quote Link to comment
