Happy Birthday Paul!

40? Oh My! r/ jnj

40?! Dude, it's time to start thinking about things like AARP, caching out that IRA and maybe even one of those little containers that reminds you to take your pills every day.

Just kidding...I'm older then you.

:D Thanks everyone! Brian, all I have to say is that your older than young me. :P

I went out there after work and didn't find any explanatory signs posted yet but there is a whole lot of brand new orange nylon fencing out there.

i went out there early this morning before work and bagged Red Moon Rising and I'm Sooooo blue. Red Moon Rising is in the middle of a field of surveyor's stakes and is not long for this world. I'm Soooo Blue may be spared since I did not see any stakes near it but there was a truck full of surveyors driving through the area and who knows what stakes they may raise today. I did not seek any of the puzzle caches since it is in my nature to create unspeakably difficult puzzle caches, not to find them, even the easiest ones. But I'll take those ammo cans if someone gives them to me, and gladly redeploy them as some of the most evil puzzles you'll ever stub your brain over.

Argh. I was afraid of that...it is consistant with everything I've seen or heard...

I would guess that I'm Soooo Blue is probably not in danger...

For anyone who hasn't been keeping track, they are working to fix up the Dulzura Conduit so that it can carry water again. Once work is completed, Indiana Ed's caches, and Chuy's Walking the Plank will probably not be possible (unless maybe your initials are PW or D-J  ) Anyone wanting to do them for a milestone, or just for the fun of doing these classics, should think about doing them now.

Thanks for the update Snake! I need to do those! Is anybody up for doing them that wakes up later on weekends?

On a somewhat related note: Soon, work will begin to raise the level of the San Vicente dam. This summer, they will start drawing down the level of the reservoir in preparation for this dam-raising. Once the water level goes down beyond the end of the boat ramp, the reservoir will be closed until 2014. When this happens, at least one cache (a monster-sized container that the BBB hauled to the top of the island) will become unreachable for many years. Something to keep in mind if it is on your to-do list.

On my first visit there, NightHunter told us that the conduit was used by illegals. On my second visit there, with Chuy and a bunch of people, I think, we spooked an illegal who was using the conduit to sneak north. I hope they know how to swim, or they may end up in the San Diego water supply at Otay

I did these caches last Saturday with zatyko. We confirmed with Chuy that Walking the Plank is more than likely missing.

The Subterranean and Ghost Waters caches were a blast! I highly recommend those!

We did not see bats in Ghost waters but we spooked a bunch in the Subterranean Cache!

Harmon, please note that there are no unbunched socks here! Your stint as the fashion police has had a positive effect on the caching community. :P

With this amount of bat guano I think that the socks have probably been vaporised. The feet will go next. Socks are the least of his problems. Run out now and score all the caches that used to be at eyelevel.

Am I the only one who has thought how much fun it would be, once the Dulzura Conduit is back in action, to hop into it with an innertube at Ed's caches, and ride the conduit and flume all the way to Otay Lakes? That would be an E ticket ride! ;)
Sign me up! Innertubing is one thing I miss about living back in the Midwest. We used to get a big group together and innertube down the river. One tube would be the beer tube. It was a blast! Edited by TrailGators

Hey everyone,

In case you haven't heard yet, there is another World Wide Flash Mob event being planned for May 10th. This is WWFM III. It will be at 10:00 am on Coronado Island. Here's the link: GC1APEQ

This event is part of a truly world-wide phenomenon. As of this morning, there are 137 events in 14 countries around the world, and more are being published every day! (bookmark list)

WWFM I: May 2007, 20 locations, 1000 geocachers in attendance

WWFM II: November 2007, 83 locations, 4400 geocachers in attendance

WWFM III: May 2008, more than 137 locations, ????? geocachers in attendance

If you had fun at Balboa Park and/or Mission Beach (near the roller coaster), come join us on beautiful Coronado Island, with the San Diego skyline view in the background.

The event will only be 15 minutes, but then we'll meet up at nearby coordinates so people can get together to plan a caching run or to get some brunch.

We also need volunteers to help make it all run smoothly, so if you'd like to help, please contact us via our profile or at podcacher@gmail.com. Thanks!

My sister linbo&kam found this cache today, but lost her keys (8-10 keys) between the dirt road and the cache. Anyone have a metal detector? If so, you would be a hero if you found them!

Her log:

This took me a while to find. I actually started looking on a whim, when I had dressy shoes on and not a lot of time. Couldn't find it for quite a while. All of a sudden I realized I didn't have my keys with me & ran back to the car to see. They weren't in sight so I went back and found the cache, wrote in it and continued to look for my keys. It's a huge set of 2-3 rings and a silver small cylinder with a fish etched on it. I must have put them down when I was checking through the dense bushes and grass. If you can help me find them I'd really appreciate it. Linbo&Kam

Anybody who has been caching in Tierra Santa is familiar with these signs:

fe7f6329-aacc-43ee-86ba-c6c673d9ce64.jpg

Now, in all the time I've been walking those trails, I have never seen an object like the one pictured -- until today. Oddly enough, I found it in a geocache. (You'd think that whoever placed it there would have had more sense than to place such an object in a cache...)

I picked it up because it had a TB tag attached to it, but in retrospect, maybe I should have called 911 instead...

I'd advise extreme caution! Here is a printout from the appropriate FM (Field Manual) that the Marines use.

Vortex Bomb - When detonated it opens up a small vortex that sucks in surrouding objects. This bomb can be detonated at anytime by pressing the vortex bomb button while it is falling.

I live only 1.17 miles from this cache and decided to try to find those missing keys but with a hiking stick, bitter resolve and 1 1/4 hrs. all I could do was come home smelling of that darned licorice plant. If the wife liked licorice then it would have been worthwhile but alas I have come up empty on two fronts. Most of the loose trash is now at ground zero but I think that the metal detector idea or more folks with rakes out there and we might eventually find them. If anyone else wants to try then I will join them.

Well, thanks for trying. I plan to visit it tomorrow with my magnetic rake!

I saw a new name publishing local caches today...

Kosh Naranek

I noticed that too. After Babylon 5 was cancelled, the acting jobs must not have come through so he had to become a volunteer cache reviewer.

I don't know why, he's a good looking guy...

Or is it a woman? :) :)

This really frosts my crank, 'cause I'm just a captain and they bring this Ambassador in right over my head. Would it have been so hard to promote me first?!?

I wouldn't worry about it. In every episode of Babylon Park, Kosh dies in some unpleasant way.

Hey everybody,

Where locally does one go to buy Camo Tape?

Thanks

DON'T TELL HIM!!! YOU KNOW WHAT HE IS GOING TO DO WITH IT, DON'T YOU!!!

I think I saw some at Target once. Otherwise, the fishing/hunting type stores would be the best bet.

Muahahahaha.....

Jahoadi doesn't mind telling me, she won't have to drive nearly as far as you will........

Muahahahahahahaha

Am I the only one who has thought how much fun it would be, once the Dulzura Conduit is back in action, to hop into it with an innertube at Ed's caches, and ride the conduit and flume all the way to Otay Lakes? That would be an E ticket ride!

Ummmm....How many geocachers actually know what an eticket ride is? While I know, they stopped calling them that before I moved here when I was a kid :P
