CourtneyP
Hiya folks, I'm going to be visiting South Lake Tahoe in a week or so. Just wanted to touch base with all of you to see if there are any recommended caches out that way! Thanks in advance! -- CourtneyP TeamGeek Quote Link to comment
TahoeJoe
Here are the caches in South Lake Tahoe that you might enjoy visiting when you are up here: Full Moon Cache http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_details.asp?ID=23586 Lucky Baldwin http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_details.asp?ID=26461 Fallen Leaf Cache http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_details.asp?ID=24165 Iva-Kay Each-Bay http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_details.asp?ID=5539 Dad's Cache http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_details.asp?ID=23583 HowitzerCache http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_details.asp?ID=27451 Sweater Cache http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_details.asp?ID=5398 Logging Road --> NOT http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_details.asp?ID=24640 Santa's Sleigh Crash Cache http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_details.asp?ID=10271 Lily Lake http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_details.asp?ID=26196 Captain Nemo's Lookout http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_details.asp?ID=5362 Spooner's East http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_details.asp?ID=24639 Spooner Lake Stash http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_details.asp?ID=3122 Bicycle-1 http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_details.asp?ID=2956 Enjoy! +glenn95630
Depends on how much you want to hike. These 3 are in a group with BICYCLE at the end of the road, take the trail at the end of the road to FREEL on top of a 10,000 foot peak, and then hike across a saddle to it's neighbor peak Job's Sister (FAMILY TIES). You could be first to find! http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_details.asp?ID=2956 http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_details.asp?ID=28334 http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_details.asp?ID=24355 Here is a pair. ALLYSON has a short hike with nice view, then back to the car for a short drive to trailhead for a couple mile hike along the Pacific Crest Trail near Echo Lake for TROOP 98. You can even go a little further for ALOHA BABY. http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_details.asp?ID=27451 http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_details.asp?ID=7031 http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_details.asp?ID=3639 This one sounds like a great view without much of a hike (SWEATER) http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_details.asp?ID=5398 Here is a pair on Fallen Leaf Lake (both ends of a big lake). http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_details.asp?ID=24165 http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_details.asp?ID=26196 But this one sounds like the best picnic spot SANTA http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_details.asp?ID=10271 Not to be overlooked, Iva Key is probably the most visited http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_details.asp?ID=5539 It is right next to LUCKY the virtual. http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_details.asp?ID=26461 Just across the Nevada line is DAD http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_details.asp?ID=23583 Have fun, Glenn Quote Link to comment
CourtneyP
Thanks for the great replies... I will be sure to look into these recommended caches when I go. Should be a great trip! TahoeJoe, could you give me any good reasons why one would want to visit any of the particular caches you have recommended... a short rundown like Glenn has done? Thanks! -- CourtneyP TeamGeek Quote Link to comment
+Wetpaws
Hey Glenn, I saw your info on Tahoe caches (and Tahoe Joe's) and snagged 5 while I was up there last week. There is another one I found not on your list...Full Moon Cache I believe. Thanks for the info! Quote Link to comment
CourtneyP
I *did* get to S. Lake Tahoe. I was staying in Stateline, up the Kingsbury Grade. Unfortunately, my mode of transportation was acting up a LOT, so I couldn't really get around except for on a shuttle. This put a damper on my geocaching activities. I did get out to two caches on my last day there, but they were rushed, and I only had one find. BAH! Maybe next time... this won't be the last! -- CourtneyP TeamGeek Quote Link to comment
