New to caching, going on a road trip.

Hi, I am new to geocaching but I am going on a road trip, going down the Pacific Coast Highway, driving from Seattle to Portland to California . I wanted to know if there are any obscure caches on the highway, if there was a sort of list thing for this and finally if there is a good way to be checking for caches while on the drive. I know it's a lot of questions, thanks for the help!

I did a part of that highway in 2011 and again in 2016, driving from Portland to Florence. Using the map, I hand-picked a few bigger caches, highly favorited caches, and a couple of Virtuals. Whatever seemed either easily accessible from the highway, or were close to sites where I planned to stop. I also emailed a couple of locals for recommendations. I notice that many of the caches I found are now archived. The very accessible caches had containers in the worst condition.

While you're driving, you could pull over at scenic areas or wildlife viewing areas, and see what pops up in the App (if you're using a phone App).

You could make or use a route, making Pocket Queries for caches near the highway, so could have a decent selection saved offline. Otherwise, Pocket Queries for select towns along your route might do.

The only cache that still exists that stands out to me is https://coord.info/GCVWH7

As usual, the cache container itself was nothing to write home about, but it's at the Newport Aquarium parking lot, not too far from the highway. Plus there are some nice shops and take-out restaurants nearby, and more caches. And of course the amazing aquarium. And it's a very scenic area.

kunarion correctly suggested using the route feature, which will allow you get a list of all of the caches along your intended trip.  The main suggestion I would make is to look for things that are highly favorited caches or any caches that are old (from 2000 or 2001) along the way.  I have shareable lists of those old caches for BC, WA, and OR and will be generating one for CA since I think it would be a nice thing for lots of people to have access to, but I can't get that done until tomorrow since I've already used my full alotment of pocket queries for today.

Here's the links for shared lists for those older caches.  You can see them, map them, and decide if any of them are worth visiting along the way for your trip:
